WouxunKG-905G Professional GMRS Two Way Radio

The Wouxun 905G is perfect for us. We have two of them. We live in a Wildfire, Flood, Earthquake and potential volcanic action area near Mt Hood. Our community has started a network of GMRS Radios so that we will have contact with each other and potentially HAM + GMRS radio operators in the event of a disaster. The cell tower battery goes out quickly when the power's out, and we need some small comfort in our ability to contact one another and emergency aid. We learned to use it quickly - choose a channel, attach a Nagoya 771G 15" antenna, press the speak button and you're ready to go. We live in the woods through some wide canyons and we had crystal clear reception at 5 miles away without a repeater. Very pleased to not have to learn a whole new way of communication. We will be placing repeaters on antennas at our three fire stations covering 25 miles. The range is significant to our purpose, it was a wise purchase for the money.

Very solid radio, with a great reputation.A tried and true design, made this purchase a no brainer. I found a group of GMRS users in Spokane, 35 miles away, clear as a bell! I will probably join the club later. They’re talking about a meet up and Barbecue!Alrighty then!

Great radio with and easy to use and program.I was able to hit a repeater tower 20 miles away from me which is not normal for hand held radios.I have experienced some problems accessing repeater channels as there are only 2 in my area that are privately owned and seriously micromanaged by the owner.Repeater channels are sketchy and Im not away of any public repeaters available.

I was looking for a good GMRS radio for my wife and I to use as we travel around the country in our RV. I did not want a dual band, tri-band or quad band radio as most of these are not FCC approved. After much research, I decided on the Wouxon 905 and boy was I surprised at the quality. Heavy in the hand, IP rated (although no way to test this) simple, easy to use. On my meter I was measuring slightly more than 5 watts on both radios and the antenna tested out at about 1.2 on SWR. Within minutes I was on a repeater located about 2 miles away and talking to someone at 28 miles. My wife and I ran a test on a bike trail and we were able to talk to each other at 3 miles through dense trees. My only complaint would be the PTT (push to talk) is a bit sensitive. Other than that, these have proven to be great radios. I also purchased the optional Nagoya 771 antenna which gives me another 3db of gain! Great pair and highly recommend.

Absolutely beats the pants off of consumer grade Motorolas or Cobra radios. The USB-C charging is so convenient.

This is my second Wouxun HT and with the 3 youtubers pushing (buy2weayredios), this radio seemed like a good buy for a quality, simple to use radio. This company is the only seller of this radio even though this seems to be from Wouxun, Wouxun does not have this radio on their website. This radio is not chirp compatible which means you have to rely on buy2wayradios to support your needs for software. Not a great thing considering their website is not updated with what is in stock (purchased online - 2 wouxun HTs and found out 2 weeks later they were not instock like the website indicated and it was going to be 3 more weeks before they would come in) and the software does not work on anything newer that windows 8. Wouxun's phone based customer service requires international rates to call. Really bummed I cant program this radio.... I wanted to buy the Wouxun kg-xs20g plus but I don't trust the this seller after this being my second bad and disappointing experience. Hmmmm really bummed, KG-XS20G Plus seems like exactly what I want.Update...The performance of the radio is very good.

Bought two KG-905G radios for the easy user interface that doesn't require a long tutorial for non-techie family members. These radios didn't disappoint. I set them up in minutes and they perform flawlessly. I got curious when I didn't see the 905G on Wouxon's corporate promotional website. Wouxon replied via email that the 905G customized by their US affiliate for GMRS. So even if I found the comparable Wouxon radio, unlocked it, and reprogrammed it for GMRS, that still wouldn't buy me FCC Part 95 acceptance. So I'm getting good value added with the 905G. Two thumbs up here.

Wouxun really makes a solid radio and this GMRS unit is a gem. Excellent quality and sound.
