Swan Potato Starch Flour 12oz

This arrived wrapped in plastic and has a good expiration date(not too close). We use this for "potato cake." It's a recipe that my sicilian mother in law got from an older jewish woman in her old neighborhood. You use the starch in place of the regular flour to make the sponge-type light cakes. Then the "frosting" is actually a boiled custard type filling that's whipped up with butter to get it fluffy. I personally think the whole thing is way too plain, but my husband and his sister grew up loving it so that's why I make it. I always want to add something like chocolate to it, but I can't change his recipe.

Rather expensive but.. it what I needed

The only problem with this is that they ship it without protection, and twice, the box has arrived crushed almost to the point of my losing confidence it was still good to use. Please ship in a more sturdy box next time.

As a recipe Blogger, this is the only potato flour I use in my recipes. This flour does not leave behind a potato flavor but adds a soft texture to any recipe that it is added too. It leaves no flavor behind making it ideal to use in any recipe. I highly suggest the use of this product. I have used other named flours and do not get the same result.

So hard to find this and expensive

The shipping box this came in was beat up very badly on the sides. The shipping tape was open.. And when I opened a swarm of bugs ran out. Creepy. However, this product was not damaged and sealed tightly. I used some for a recipe and it was perfect.

This product is very good. Its the quality that you would expect at a very good price. I Recommend it.

Package was 2 days late and arrived crushed but intact inside the shipping envelope. I like this product and can't get it locally so I won't complain. This starch is great to add to your flour mixes to make chicken crisper, wonderful crispy fried green tomatoes, ried shrimp, basically anything you want to add some crunch to or as a substitute for corn starch for less carbs. Kind of pricey but a little goes a long way so it lasts.
