Honest and full of self help advice
Haven't finished this book yet but so far I love it! Loads of self improvement exercises and meditations as well as honest stories and experiences from the author's own life.

SPECIAL BOOK
I bought this book because I needed help about my life's direction. I didn't think a book would be able to give me all the answers but this came close. Whilst reading it I did some of the tasks and to my surprise I had some results; I ended up returning to a project that I had written off as a failure. The act of going back gave me so much joy. I ended up forgiving someone who had caused me emotional pain. I am only at the start of my spiritual journey but this book has given me the best preparation. Read it and expect your life to change.

Beware any author that claims to have a "road map" to solving your problems
Firstly, I believe this book may be helpful to some people who are dealing with "lighter" issues such as occasional self doubt or minor interpersonal conflicts. It offers some nice advice about meditation and self talk and thinking about other people's perspectives. However, reading it I was struck again and again by how the author seemed to apply her limited upper middle-class, white, North American perspective to a variety of issues that ranged from superficial to almost traumatic. Such issues are clearly personal and context-dependent. The author also claims to have a "road map" to self-love and finding happiness, which is a huge red flag for me. I bought this because of strong reviews I read online, despite concerns after seeing the cover and reading the description and I regret my purchase. In the future I will stick to books that have more evidence to the claims they make and acknowledge the diversity of the readers and their complex situations.

Totally hooked
I bought this book and got halfway through because I needed to do A Curse in Miracles before I could continue. A year later and I've just finished Spirit Junkie and I appreciate it so much more now that I've done the course. Written like talking to a girlfriend who's really got her s*** together. You just want to sink into a soft couch and listen to Gabrielle speak to you for hours.
