Scrubs the High Pitch
This does reduce sound a bit. Adding this and also replacing my vaccum bag which was very full, noticeably reduced the high pitch sound. I measured a reduction of a couple decibels so nothing massive - but it's the tone that changed, not as high pitch - which is what was so unpleasant. I installed this on a garage wall vac. If you want a significantly reduced sound you'll need to vent the exhaust outside.

Wrong parts delivered
One pic is from the product description. Other is what I received. They don’t fit together in any way. Now I need a Lowes run to get the correct PVC parts. Very annoying.Just dowgraded to 2 stars. Turns out that even a trip to Lowes doesn't solve it because it's some sort of Canadian sizing so 1 1/2" pvc is too small and 2" pvc is too large. Even the long pipe they sent to me (which has no use anywhere) is too big to use (diameter wise) to cut up and serve as an adapter. So, I cut a 4" piece from the long tube and ground down the edges with my sander to get it to fit. Unbelievable from an American company.

Could Not Really Tell a Difference
It wasn't until I had fit this up to my shop vac that I then discovered that most of the noise emitted from my old Craftsman shop vac was coming out the top where the motor cooling fan exhausts its air. Well made enough and it was worth it if for no other reason than to gain the understanding that I now have.

Great addition to our awesome utility vac!
I purchased the muffler kit to go along with the utility vac that I bought for my husband. It does an awesome job keeping the noise level down when using the vacuum. Well worth the additional money.

Well worth the investment
Well worth buying. You can hardly hear the vacuum on. You lose little bit of suction, it’s easy to remove if you need to more power.

Yes it does work
Not sure where the reviews saying it doesn't work are coming from - I have a vacumaid garage vac in my garage and this thing absolutely made it quieter and much more tolerable. Taking it off you can immediately hear an increase in sound - or at least perceived sound. I feel like I got my money's worth.
