Most laptops have the keyboard at the top instead of the bottom, so your hands can rest on the bottom of the laptop. Since there's no place on this laptop to rest your hands, it comes with a palmrest which is a little ramp you can add to the bottom and have a place for your palms while typing etc. While I originally used the palmrest, I've since just gotten used to putting my palm on the table, but the palmrest is an option for those who prefer a more standard approach.

How does this benefit a music producer spec wise?

You may not care about the GPU at all unless you have an audio program that uses CUDA-accelerated filters or instruments....if that even exists. The 16GB is fine for basic recording and simple mastering, but a 32GB model should be seen as the minimum for anyone doing a lot of separate channels in the mix. Not sure if currently available but there was one with an Intel 12th-gen CPU/32GB memory and an RTX 3060. Thunderbolt is useful in media production because it can give you up to....40Gbit of bandwidth. There are specialized devices that can take advantage of this. Depending on your work flow the second screen could be a godsend, but not everyone seems to find a good use for it.
