Are the yield ratings for color cartridges based on equal use of 3 colors, or the yield of each color?

Actually, I don't know, but I found it "interesting" that after having this printer less than a month, we were out of ink of every color cartridge except Cyan which I had just replaced. I decided to print a "test" document that was only Black and White, and it came out perfectly. So I'm going to continue to use it without replacing any of the other cartridges and see what happens. We also decided to buy another HP OfficeJet (9010) which costs less than replacing the four 206A toner cartridges.

Is there a way to remove the embedded chip so that you can use a cheaper toner cartridge?

There is a way to remove the embedded. You need to break the tab on the left side of the chip to get it out, however once it is placed in the cheaper toner there is nothing to hold it in place and it can slide out easily. I went back to the name brand as they lasted longer and I had fewer problems with them.

It will not feed paper on scan from Printer panel to computer. Feeder tries, but no paper feed from feeder?
