Has anyone tried kicking a door in with this installed to test?

No, this device will not prevent a door from being kicked in. It will prevent the door from being opened in the event that an intruder picks the lock, has a key, or otherwise overcomes the lock and handle. It does the same thing as a door chain, and they don’t prevent kicking in either. Kicking in a door means the latch breaks the door frame out of the wall, and anything else on that door frame, including door chains or this device, will come apart with the door frame. A security bar will be more effective at resisting being kicked in.

Does this prevent lock picking?

They can still pick the lock, but after they do. They still can't open the door. It acts as a secondary lock.
