is the plastic BPA free?

No, the plastic is not PBA free. I used my magnifying glass and looked all over the plastic itself and read all of the information on the box. On the very bottom of the box there is a teeny tiny warning that this product can expose you to bisphenol A.

Is the vent on the side or the bottom ?

Will it work well without the clear plastic part on top that sends the popcorn down?

I would not buy this specific popper. It does not pop all the popcorn; leaves about 30 kernels unpopped. I'm looking to buy from a different company.

Does the popping chamber utilize circular airflow or just a fan at the bottom? The older units from the 1980’s use circular air and the seeds spin.

I believe it is a combo; however, I returned this unit as it was poorly designed and created safety hazards. Airflow slits on side allowed random kernels to escape - they are superheatedat this point and burn skin of anyone in close contact. I reordered the WestBend Stir Crazy, which must be our 4th one in about 30 years.
