Physically small and light. Very impressive performance (2 TB tested)
I was not expecting the device to be so small (approx 6.5 x 5 x.0.8cm) and light (38 g). It is supplied with a short USB-C to USB-C cable (about 20cm) which connects it to your device of choice. There is a cutout in one corner for a lanyard or security cable. Neither are supplied but I would not expect them to be.On the drive itself there are links to various software download sites, most notably a suite of photo management software which looked interesting but I thought quite expensive. Being a Crucial product there is free access to their stripped down version of Acronis True Image. This will only work if one of the drives on your system is made by Crucial, and allows you to clone or backup existing drives to your new X10.I chose to clone the 2TB ssd on my new laptop to the X10. The job was performed faultlessly, as expected. I have been using Crucial SSD products (250GB to 4TB) since they hit the market some years ago with no problems at all and look forward to many years of service from the X10.My only observations are (1) in periods of heavy use such as drive cloning the housing becomes hot, which is normal. However in my case I found it uncomfortably hot - in excess of 60deg C. (2) there is no tell-tale light in the housing to show when the drive is operating. In conclusion, the product marries high capacity with small size. Excellent portability for business use.

Really good product
Crucial External Portable SSD Drive - Up to 2100MB/s, USB-C 3.2 Gen2, External Solid State Drive although you can get cheaper products that do the same thing they’re not always protected like this product is seen as it’s water and dust resistant also and it comes in a really good blue protection case the price is a bit heavy though

Crucial X10 2TB External SSD
This Crucial X10 SSD is seriously impressive! It's incredibly fast, making huge file transfers a breeze. The 2100MB/s speeds are no joke. I also love that it's IP65 water and dust resistant – peace of mind when I'm out and about. Plus, the matte blue finish looks great. For a portable drive, it feels really durable and is super compact. Definitely recommend it for anyone needing speedy, rugged storage.

Tiny footprint, big on storage
I received this item for free as part of the Amazon Vine programme, in return for a frank and honest review of the product. My review will be based on my personal experience of this product. This is a review of 'Crucial X10 2TB External Portable SSD Drive - Up to 2100MB/s, USB-C 3.2 Gen2, IP65 Water and Dust Resistant, External Solid State Drive, Matte Blue - CT2000X10SSD9-02' and the comments only apply to this item.Item colour: BlueIs the item colour true to the product image: YesStyle Ordered: 2TBItem Size: Length = 6.5cm x Width = 4.9cm x Depth = 1cmCompatibility: Tested with Windows 10 and iOS18.5Power Supply: Takes power from the USB port on the device that you connect it up toDoes the product work/perform as advertised: YesIs the product value for money: YesWould I recommend this product: YesI have been using Crucial SSD drives in my laptops for years. I have always found them to be very reliable, so when I was offered the chance of testing (and getting to keep) a Crucial external SSD drive, well I jumped at the chance to do it!WHAT'S IN THE BOX?Inside the box you will find a "USB-C ==> USB-C" cable, the cable is quite short 24.5cm and the external SSD itself. The external SSD has an extremely tiny footprint. I have added a photo to this review that lets you see just how small it is. This is the smallest external hard drive I have ever owned. It's smaller than a credit card in length and width and can easily be carried in your pocket.CONNECTING TO YOUR DEVICEConnecting is quite simple. The version that I was sent to test comes with just a USB-C to USB C cable, but my computer has USB-A ports - well that isn't a problem because I have many USB-C to USB-A cables, so I was able to just make use of one of them for carrying out my testing, but if you are like myself and don't have a computer with a USB-C port and don't have any USB-C to USB-A cables, you can buy a USB-C to USB-A adapter for less than a fiver and then you'll be able to use the drive.WINDOWS - On plugging the external SSD into my computer, it was instantly recognised. The "Properties" view in computer management showed that the drive has 1.81TB of free space (Hard drive manufacturers calculate a MB as being 1000 bytes, but computers calculate a MB as being 1024 bytes. This leads to the difference between the advertised storage on ANY hard drive and the actual storage available. All those additional 24 bytes per MB add up and you end up with all hard drives having a smaller amount of storage space than the headline figure shown on the box). The drive has a few files already on it when you connect it to your computer, they are 4 internet shortcut files and a PDF document.IOS - I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and I connected the external SSD to the iPhone using the USB-C to USB-C cable that came with the external SSD. The "Files" application in iOS instantly recognised the external drive and I was able to copy files to the SSD. I wasn't able to time the copying process, but I was able to backup all the photos and videos on my iPhone in a matter of seconds. On plugging the SSD back into my computer I was able to access all the photos and videos that had been on my iPhone.HOW FAST IS IT?I carried out two tests with the external SSD, both of these were with the SSD connected to my Windows 10 computer. I copied one large file to the SSD and then copied that large file back to my computer. My computer has a Crucial BX500 1TB SSD installed, so this was basically testing Crucial against Crucial. The file that I copied was a 60.9GB backup image file.Copying TO the external SSD took 7 minutes 20 seconds and the write speed on the external SSD was around 141MB per second. Remember I am using a USB-C to USB-A cable which does slow the transfer process down as USB-A, even with USB-3 protocols is much slower than USB-C to USB-CCopying FROM the external SSD to the computer took 7 minutes and 16 seconds. The write speed started out at around 400mb per second for around the first 40 seconds, but the speed then dropped off to around 51.2MB per second. Again, this is with a USB-C to USB-A cable which does limit the transfer speed. But, considering that the transfer time was 4 seconds quicker on this transfer, the average transfer speed must be fairly equal to the 141MB transfer speed on the previous test.IS IT GOOD VALUE AND WOULD I RECOMMEND?Yes I think it is a good value drive and I would recommend it. For me it's going to be very handy having an external SSD that I can connect to my iPhone and iPad, to then be able to transfer photos and video to my Windows 10 computer. The speed is more than sufficient for myself (I'm used to transferring everything around a GB network where the transfer speed is usually around 105MB per second). Buyers who have USB-C ports on their computers should see a significant increase in speed on file transfers than what I am getting because USB-C to USB-C is so much faster.
