英語の勉強用に購入。日本語と比較しながら読みたいと思い、 色々な漫画の英語版を調べて黒執事に決めたのは、主人公が執事、漫画の世界観等から、り汚い言葉や、くだけた表現は使われてないだろうと思ったからです。感想としては、さすが執事、とても言葉が丁寧です。英会話の先生に見せたところ、少し古臭いけど、綺麗で丁寧な言葉使い、イギリス英語、丁寧な英語を学ぶにはとても良いといってました。古臭くて丁寧な英語も、セバスチャンの使い方はクールでかっこいいそうです。アメリカ人はあまり使わないそうですが、使う場面を選べばすごく丁寧でかっこいいと絶賛してました。丁寧な表現でも日本人なら嫌みにならないそうです。ネイティブではない我々はスラングや、くだけた表現を間違えて使ってしまう可能性もあり、その点でもこの漫画はお勧めです。あと、丁寧な表現、スラングがないものだと、よつばと英語版、スクリーンプレイシリーズのアナスタシアがお勧めです。 よつばとは日常が描かれているのでこちらは簡単で面白いですよ。

日本語版の電子がなくて、英語版を買いました。英訳した方はおそらくアメリカ英語のバックグラウンドがある人？イギリス英語っぽくて少し古臭い言いまわしにはしていますが、ベタなイギリス英語でもないです。アメリカンが読んでもわかるように？かな？House stewardって職業は聞いたことないし、Chlauseっていう名前もイタリア人とは思えないんですが、たぶん原文がそうなっている？Redundantな表現が時々あって日本語の原文がどうなっているのか気になります(日本語版は読んだことありません)でも最後に丁寧な注釈があって親切。私も知らなかったことが書いてあってちょっと教養本みたいです。丼の説明は面白かった！訳者も苦労したんじゃないかと思いますが、作者もイギリスのことはあまり知らなかったと言っているわりにはスゴいなーと思います。あれ？っと思う描写はあるけどヨーロッパのマンガに出てくる日本人の描写が若干おかしいのと同じぐらいで気になるほどでもないし、イギリスはDr.Whoやfawlty towersみたいなヘンな(でも面白い)ドラマもありますからフィクションだと思えばアリですね。それよりもbitter rabbitなんていうシャレを思いつくところがスゴいです。アメリカやフランスほどじゃありませんがイギリスにもストーリー性の高いマンガgraphic novelは少しだけあります。V for vendettaのように映画化されたものも中にはあるので、黒執事もイギリス制作で映画化されるといいですね。テーマはすごくいいマンガだと思う。笑いから悲しい過去やアクションまでいろいろ入ってます。日本語の電子版がないので－1ですが、英語版kindleはたぶん全部かってしまうと思います。
