Q: Will the item come out shiny or matte?

The silicone mold will come out with the same surface as the item you’re making a mold of, and the flat surface (what ends up being the bottom of the mold) cures shiny. For example, if you cast something like an unpolished stone the inside of the mold will have that same rough texture. And if you cast a polished stone, the inside of the mold will be just as shiny as the stone is. Personally I had an issue with bubbles with this silicone about half the time, but I did have some molds turn out fine and the silicone takes the texture of the item very well—to the point you want to make sure you don’t leave fingerprints on what you’re making a mold of. I casted a couple small druzy earring studs and the surface of each tiny crystal is just as shiny as the original. Just keep in mind that over time and use, even the shiniest of molds will eventually lose their shine. Mold release can help with this, but sometimes I find it affects the surface texture of the finished resin, so it depends on what I’m casting.

Very easy to use, will not stick to your items, very soft but will not break.
