Q: Does this taste like an Americano from your local coffee shop?

I drink a 16oz quad vanilla Americano any time I go to any local espresso stand. It's been my drink forever and the only thing I drink. With the Nespresso I have a 12oz coffee mug at home, I use 1 gran lungo pod, a splash of vanilla flavoring and then just top the mug off with some hot water either from the machine or from the tea kettle and this honestly tastes better than any other coffee shop I've ever been to. I was hesitant to spend the money on a nespresso machine, but the quality of the machines and the outstanding flavor of their coffee has made me so happy that I did pull the trigger. Deep, rich flavor without being overly bitter on the fortado gran lungo.

Q: Is it just straight up espresso? I don't like flavors, and am awaiting my new Nespresso Pixie, so haven't ordered before.

Yep, it is just coffee, no flavors. Most of nespresso's coffees are unflavored, just different blends of regions, beans and roasting times. Just pick how much caffeine you want, and how dark you want. Regardless, the livanto is a great start as it is medium roast, medium/low caffeine. Hope this helps. Enjoy.P.s. There are certain flavors that have different amounts. It really depends on the capsule size. For instance, Espresso pods which are smaller flatter pods, they produce 1.35ounces of espresso (in an espresso cup/glass) smaller amount but way more caffeinated in coffee strength. Then there are the taller pods that produce 7.77 ounces of coffee not espresso which is less strength in caffeination in a larger coffee mug. The more specific you get in terms of coffee flavor the more or less the strength of caffeination. Hope that makes sense..
