are the silicone seals heat resistant? Can I heat up food in teh container with the lid on?

Yes! the silicon seals is heat resistant. Both containers & lids can be used to reheat food (355 F / 180 C). But we recommend covering the lids loosely because it may be very difficult to open due to the air pressure.
