After a 35 year absence from karting, I am considering re-entry and am reading as much as I can to learn about current technology. Granted, those who are already experienced might find little help in Karting Chassis Setup Technology but newbies will find it extremely helpful as a starting point. It addresses setups for dirt, paved oval and road courses explaining basic cause and effect for handling for each. I would think this to be an excellent first purchase for the prospective or newbie karter.

Can't beat Steve Smith books

Well, I consider this book as a very mediocre product. To point a couple things, the images has big paragraphs (more than 6 lines) and the main text of the “book” is a mere “copy &paste” of that so you read almost the 30% of the content twice.Moreover, there’s a chapter which content is the copy and paste of a previous chapter. WTF!On the other hand, the book is not a book really. It is a thin magazine. The context is not deep and there are not explanations about how to set the kart for a specific type of circuit.I find more instructive to watch o live YouTube videos and they are for free.To finish, this magazine is old. Really old. (Written on 2000).Very disappointed. Sorry for my English. I’m not native.

It was a very good book for your Basic set up needs.

Steve Smith is the man. If your Kart doesn't handle after you apply what you learn from this book, it's you not the Kart. Take some driving lessons.

I should really knock this book to stop my competitors buying it. Steve Smith has described all the basics of setting up a kart in easy to follow language. He hasn't blinded with science to confuse beginers, but expert karters will learn set-up tricks from this book as well. European purchasers will easily get used to the American terms - and can learn to understand what the NASCAR commentators are talking about as well! No kart workshop should be without this book, but if you are a kart racer who has never picked up a spanner, read this book anyway to learn how to describe what your kart is doing in the corners.

this book describes how you can improve the efficiency and handling characteristics of your go kart by listing down various modifications and tricks we can apply in order to make the kart perform better. A must read for teams participating in go kart competitions.
