The feeding instructions on the pouch are somewhat confusing. We continued with the same amount of food that we used to feed previously with a different canned food. The 18 lbs dogs are getting 250 grams which are 2 1/2 pouches twice a day. The 25 lbs dog gets 3 pouches twice a day. They all get additionally 30 grams of mashed sweet potatoes in the morning.

Q: Why does this food have so much more protein when compared to the dry renal food and other wet renal diets?

I would assume it is from the salmon/seafood content. But it was an excellent product for my dog Babe when she started having kidney disease. She almost made it to 19 and this product helped more than other prescription kidney based foods. When she passed it was from another cause of seizure and aspiration of something to her lungs...she just couldn't recover at the hospital. May I also suggest, along with this product, trying green tripe, another alternative over some of the other prescription kidney care products. In particular, if you are having issues of palatable rejection of these prescription foods over time. I would mix it up for my dog initially with various foods both commercial, prescription and sometimes home prepared. But over time this product and green tripe were the winners and the primary steady diet I found that worked. In extensive reading on this subject over time, the protein content is a little overstated and some clinical papers seem to support the view. Anyway, the main goal was food intake and water consumption initially to trigger appetite (unsalted fries worked great initially for that process)...with other adjustments of ingredients secondary. With this process and Forza 10 and green tripe (small trays available from two manufacturers, she maintained a stable weight (about 5% below her normal) until the end. I hope this helps with your care. p.s. don't let people complaining about smell of green tripe keep you from trying it. It is not as bad as some make it out to be and dogs like it.

No Kidney Failure for my pooch

Whatever you do, never give your dog cat treats or food. I'm learning the hard way. We have a dog and cat and they always sneak and eat eachothers food. I didn't know that the cats food could cause kidney failure. We luckily caught our mistake before it got to kidney failure but now we are doing our best to ensure he stays healthy. He started to not want to drink his water so my son boiled chicken and he loves the broth and now I just mix a little broth and put some shredded chicken at the bottom of the bowl and he drinks all the water to get the chicken. I'm just sharing as much as I can for other dog moms. As for the dog food, my little guy LOVES IT!!! There was no issues changing from his old pate food. He gobbled it right up. I hope your fur baby loves it too.❤️ 🐕

Zena loves her food

My little dog, Zena loves this food. We have tried a lot of different food for her and she is so happy with her new food. Zena is 5lbs, the little pod is perfect for her twice feeding. Her kidney protein was up, we willl have to see if the food decrease the kidney, that will only be in time. Right now she loves the lamb.

Made my dog very sick!

I was hoping my dog would like this. She hated all other KD food. She did seem to eat a little, butthen walked away. I noticed it had some bone fragments in it. The next day she became very sick. Diarrhea, bloody stool, and vomiting. This went on for 24 hrs! I threw all the food away!

My dog has kidney problems and the specific food in the USA is very expensive, in addition to the fact that you need a vet prescription to buy it, and my dog doesn't like it. I tried this 1 year ago, good price, no vet fees for the prescription and I always find the bowl clean 😉
