Quick and easy way to start making your own Kombucha
We tried making our own scoby and it took weeks to finally get a very small scoby which we almost missed sitting at the bottom of our jar. It fell apart when we tried to move it to make a big jar of kombucha. We decided to go ahead and buy a scoby and it came well packaged and it worked. We've now bottled our first batch of kombucha and it tastes pretty good. We added some home grown tangerines for flavor and to get the carbonation and just tried the finished product today. Not bad and it's really not a very difficult process once you get into it. Plan to experiment with ginger and other fruits At the price one pays for store bought kombucha, it's really cool to make your own. The health benefits are said to be excellent and we're into it now! We bought a gallon jar from Target which was around $12 to $15 (husband can't remember) but that was the best price we found. Then we're using bottles from Trader Joes Ginger brew with the gro-lock tops (whatever they're called with the clamp down). These are large and work great but we were told Trader Joes won't be selling that once they've sold out. Great price of $2.99 per bottle and you get to drink the brew, too. Most bottles we looked at online were much more pricey. Hope this is helpful. Happy kombucha making! :)

Excellent product!
I used to grow my own scoby using a bottle of GT Dave's classic kombucha, but since I could no longer find that one in any market near me I decided to try out this already made scoby. I started my continuous brew kombucha last Monday and today I have a beautiful scoby layer formed over all of my tea. Excellent product, would certainly recommend! My kombucha is not ready to drink yet as it is a little too sweet for me but I'm sure in another week will be perfect.

Would not start
The scoby looked healthy but I will note the additional fluid in bag had gotten punctured and I had no luck after a couple of months of trying to the scoby started. Big bummer after staring at it every few days

Healthy Scoby & Strong Starter
I received the scoby last Monday (Dec.3) and started brewing my first Kombucha. I have cultured and fermented milk kefir and somehow culturing my own kombucha has intimidated me at first as I was not confident that it would turn out right. I saw the reviews for this scoby and decided to give it a go and I am happy that I did. After the first 7 days, my scoby has produced an offspring. I've tasted the first brew and tasted delicious. The product was professionally packaged as well. As soon as I saw it I knew that they put a lot of care into it.The pictures represents my second brew (currently brewing, in my dark kitchen cabinet) and close up shot of my very happy mother scoby + it's very hyper active baby scoby. The bottled kombucha pics were from my first brew, that were flavored and have been fermenting for the 3.5 days now (you can see the carbonation). These were taste tested by professional critics aka my parents and my husband both were graded A+.I have to say the seller is so pro-active and making sure that everything is up to my satisfaction and I am glad to say that the product and service has exceeded my expectations.

SCOBY ghosted you? SCOBY got mouldy? This will get you started or on track after failure.
I've been brewing booch for a couple of years. My job, travels, and other stuff like doing laundry caused me to fail at maintaining a healthy SCOBY for making kombucha. This saved the day and performed as well as the family member/neighbor/yoga class member who said they'd provide a SCOBY to revive the effort. Fair price and good quality product!

Not bad
I Bought another Scoby from another company in Texas that was bigger and thicker than this one and it worked very well. I got this one to cross brew bacteria in my Kombusha and it was smaller and thinner. I just finished the first batch with it and it took 2 days more to brew but had a new scoby starting. The brew tastes good so just be prepared to wait a couple of extra days for your first brew.

It was okay
I know scobys take a second to rebuilt their health, especially qith changing tea brands and so on. But this sucker took well over a month and 2 WHOLE gallon batches (one totally wasted) to get it reasonably ready. It's finally getting there but it's still very slow going.
