Wheely good..
Needed some new wheels to enable replacement of the plastic wheels on Hornbys old HAA wagons (R249) which I am building up a rake of for use on my friends model railway. The old wheels are to small in diameter.I read elsewhere that someone else had done the same project and recommended these 14.1mm wheels as ideal replacements. If I was a rivet-counter, then the wheels should have brake discs cast into them and Hornby do these as well, but I have started the project now, so will continue to fit these!There are sufficient axles in the pack to do ten wagons.They are very well finished with a good pinpoint on each end - ideally brass bearing cups should be fitted to the axleboxes on the wagons to get the least rolling resistance, but I am doing the project to a budget so mine are running in the plastic bearing cups as moulded on the wagon.The finish of the wheels means they dont take paint particularly well, but perhaps an etch primer would help - I have have left mine unpainted as they are hardly seen from normal viewing angles.Recommended.

As expected but doesn't fit some Hornby carriages.
This came just as expected. The only issue I had is it didn't fit the carriages with plastic wheels, they were so loose because of pointed ends so I had to do some swapping around wheels with the other carriages I have which luckily solved the problem. Good upgrade of my carriages i think. They now run more smoothly compared to when they had plastic wheels.
