I have 50 pencils in mine and could put a few more in easy.

Does the mesh pocket on top go all the way down or is it just that little pocket?

It's as small as it looks in that picture (doesn't go all the way down). My son uses it to store his earbuds that he has to have at school. He really likes this box.
