Give them their (ray-traced) flowers
Gamers tend to pile-on certain developers, and it’s well documented that Ubisoft is one of their favorite targets. It’s not completely without warrant - the studio has had its share of controversy over the years, and has had some rough patches - but it’s important to give them credit when it’s due. One shining light in Ubisoft’s portfolio has persisted (mostly), and that’s the Assassin’s Creed brand. This is no exception. In fact, it is their best work in a while!OPEN WORLD:I was a huge fan of Sucker Punch’s game Ghost of Tsushima, and was curious how I’d feel about this game given the natural comparison. Both have similar settings (a large area of feudal Japan), but take place centuries apart. Architecture has evolved, and the world feels more populated in AC Shadows. There are points of interest and activities just about anywhere you go, and plenty of quests to keep you busy- or should I say distracted? I regularly would go off my intended route to take on a castle and lose track of time. The game does not do a great job of differentiating between main story quests and side quests, so expect to take your time getting through the story if you don’t have a guide. I this world, that’s not the worst thing. One negative thing I have noticed is that the foliage can sometimes be so thick in forests that I can’t even see my own character. This is a small gripe though.COMBAT:There are many ways to customize your fighting style between two major characters (who you can usually switch between at will), with very different styles. They each have a nice assortment of weapons as well.Naoe is stealthy, light, fast, and can use grappling hooks she also has Eagle Vision to easily spot enemies and plan attacks accordingly.Yasuke is like a truck, and about as graceful as one. He uses brute strength to smash through barriers and whoever is unfortunate enough to challenge him. These two have their own moments to shine and be of preference, but when presented with the choice of who to play as, I found myself going back to Naoe 9 times out of 10. She’s just much more fun to play as, in my opinion.PS5 PRO:The open world is vast, rich, and beautiful. I’ve attached some screenshots captured via the Quality mode on the PlayStation 5 Pro. While Quality mode currently supports 30fps, it’s a very smooth framerate. It’s the first time I’ve willingly played a game at 30fps in a long time, but the expanded ray tracing elements were too beautiful to pass up. Developers have reported that PSSR upscaling will be added soon as well.I recommend checking this game out and having some fun. It’s an incredible setting depicted beautifully, with many hours of blissful samurai-ing.

Buy this!! You won't be sorry
My husband loves these games. He said this is by far the best game in the series. Things look so real and the movement of her hair is so perfect. He said he highly recommends this game. Great story so far

Decide for yourself!
You more than get your money’s worth. They did a masterful job of providing an overload of side quests, caves, castles, camps, pages, temples, shrines, varied enemies, battles, fighting styles and I have barley touched on how much there is to do. I got game day one and still have not finished the main story because I am cleaning up items on the map. I am an Assassin’s Creed fan and ignored all the negative junk thrown at this game. Thoroughly enjoying the game.

Fantastic Game! Don't Pay Attention to the Basement Dwellers
Assassin's Creed: Shadows is an Assassin's Creed game.4 and a half stars (they don't have halves anymore -- that's weird). If you know what that means, you know what to expect - except that it’s set in Feudal Japan. The open world is vast and sometimes perplexing, but that is norm for any game set in the Assassin's Creed Universe. Regardless of everything else, it's pretty great. The graphics, the gameplay and the voices are all top tier. Connections to the previous mythology abound, but they don't overwhelm the main story.*The only problem is that this game came out under the shadow of Ghost of Tsushima: an amazing, ground-breaking game that is Sucker Punch's crowing achievement. Comparisons can be made, but both games hold up for the open-world-loving gamer.*All-in-all Assassin's Creed: Shadows is a fantastic experience that's gonna entertain you for hundreds of hours - especially if you play these games wrong like I do (you know...ignoring the story for side-quests. Yeah...I'm that guy).

Awesome game
Assassin's Creed Shadows - Limited Edition is a stunning addition to the franchise, delivering an immersive feudal Japan adventure. The breathtaking open-world visuals, with dynamic seasons and vibrant landscapes, make exploration a joy. Naoe’s slick stealth and Yasuke’s powerful combat create a perfect balance, while the gripping story keeps you hooked. The Limited Edition’s exclusive cosmetics and extras, like the Sekiryu Dual Pack, add flair to an already epic experience. A must-play for AC fans

Fun Experience in the Japanese Landscape
I haven't completed the story yet, but its been enjoyable so far. I believe the real highlight of this game is the attention to detail in the Japanese landscape. Beautiful views and fun to explore. Solid game overall in my experience.

Beautiful game that must be played!
To be honest this release completely escaped my attention somehow but I am glad I picked it up! The AC franchise has had a lot of excellent entries into the series and this one is no different. The gameplay is familiar enough but it is a darker entry as in the screen is of a darker tone, sometimes it’s hard to see things at night and thus far there is no torches no is there eagle vision. I have less than 30 hours I’d say in gameplay so who knows what the future holds but so far this game is pretty awesome! Set in fuedal Japan and even featuring a small cameo by the legendary Hatori Hanzo this is a must play for gamers and especially AC fans! 🤟🏻
