Moiswell MP 145 for basement dehumidification
Earlier this year I purchased a Moiswell Defender MP 145 Dehumidifier for the basement of my house. I am in the process of renovating the property and the basement is full of household items and precision engineering equipment, this requires control of the humidity to prevent rusting and other damage. The Moiswell MP 145 unit was selected as it is specifically designed for use in crawlspaces and basements. The unit arrived in a sturdy reinforced box with shock-proof inserts to prevent damage during shipping. The box is heavy and not easy for one to lift so I’d recommend getting helper. There are two grab handles on top of the unit that make it more maneuverable when positioning. The fit and finish of the metal enclosure for the machine is excellent. The instructions are clear and reasonably well written. The unit needs to be left for 24 hr before switching on, this allows refrigerant and lubricant to settle in the machine. There is a duct adapter that is shipped inside the unit, I removed this before starting. Also, the unit must be leveled using the adjustable feet. This is easy using a 2 ft spirit level. The unit can operate in either a “pump out” mode or a gravity drain. I used the pump out mode into a basement sink. Moiswell provides the necessary hoses for the hook-up.Unfortunately, the first unit failed to continually empty the reservoir and needed periodic manual resetting. I made Moiswell aware of the issue using the on-line help service. There was a problem with the pump inside the unit. A replacement dehumidifier was shipped and arrived very quickly. The people at Moiswell are extremely approachable and clearly want to help the customer in rectifying any problems. One thing that is very different about this dehumidifier compared to other consumer oriented machines, is that comes with information allowing recharging of refrigerant (R32). This is not usual as “homeowner” dehumidifiers are not serviceable. I am not an HVAC engineer and would take the machine to a qualified service center should recharging be necessary. Kudos to Moiswell for marketing a dehumidifier that can be serviced.Overall, I am very pleased with the Moiswell dehumidifier. It has been keeping my 1200 square foot basement at 40% RH without my attention. I would recommend this machine to others for basement dehumidification.

Effective & Compact Attic Dehumidifier
I bought this dehumidifier to control humidity in my styrofoam-insulated attic, which was consistently in the 60s. After a week of use, it’s working perfectly—maintaining a steady 40% humidity. The built-in pump allows easy drainage to my AC outlet (gravity drain is also an option), and its compact design fits snugly between rafters. It runs quietly—barely noticeable downstairs—and doesn’t produce much heat. Plus, its energy-efficient certification means long-term savings. Great value for the price!

Amazingly Quiet
This dehumidifier is great! Make sure you follow the EASY installation/start-up instructions precisely and you'll have no problems. When I started it, my crawlspace was 74% humidity. I went back and checked it ~4 hrs later and it was already down to 49% (I set it for 40%) and it was pumping water perfectly. The best part of this unit is how incredibly quiet it is. Mine is centrally placed within the footprint of my house which makes the unit directly under my living room. The crawlspace is about 40" high and I have the unit sitting ~4" off the floor. With it being so close to the main seating area, you'd think it would be easily audible... nope. At most, it's about as loud as a refrigerator. I also bought the remote so I don't have to go in the crawlspace as often to check things. Hook-up and installation was also super easy but be gentle when removing the display pad from the housing when mounting the remote. Once reassembled, it works like a charm. I did not rate the energy efficiency because I haven't received my first electric bill but I suspect the energy cost will be reasonable.UPDATE: I had an issue with the remote controller so I contacted Moiswell customer service. The rep, Aya, has been both proactive and responsive. She stays on top of things and kept me informed through the process of getting a replacement remote control. Everything seems to be working great after I installed the new remote.Update: Apr/May 2025. The unit was not effectively maintaining the humidity level so I contacted Aya in customer service. She had me run a few tests and determined the issue couldn't be resolved. She offered a full refund or replacement unit. Since the unit did a great job, I opted for a replacement. Within 4 days, a new unit arrived on my doorstep! Aya has been great, the customer service is superior.

Quiet, Fast & Efficient
Very quiet compared to similar units, dried out my crawlspace very quickly, and according to the Smart Outlet Power Monitor it uses less power overall. This is my second professional grade dehumidifier. I love them both. Don't mess with the big box retail grade units. This just works without messing with it. It's heavy, not all plastic.According to the Kasa outlet, it's about 10% more efficient for than the unit it replaced. It's only been running for about a week and a half now.Yes, it's expensive, but it will save you time and frustration in the long run. I use the gravity drain, so I haven't tested the pump.I'll update this if anything significant changes.

MP145 great quality and operation.
I bought the MP145 to replace a different brand dehumidifier in my crawlspace. Upon receipt, the overall quality of the unit was very nice. It is important to also note that packaging was exceptional. Details matter. The filter location is easily accessible which will make cleaning a breeze. The handles on top are appreciated as they helped with getting the unit into the crawlspace. As for operation, it is doing exactly what I needed and better than before. It maintains humidity very well. When installed, it quickly brought the humidity back to desired levels as the replaced unit (not of same brand) was nonoperational for a few days. The accessories and availability of parts is also a nice bonus.
