Excellent product! Easy and reliable to use, moderate setup
After nearly a year of daily use, we really like our Lorex! The setup was a little tricky, specifically connecting to the wireless network. The steps involved seem solid and reliable but the connection wasn't remembered on the first attempt (maybe because I put the password in wrong) but it was on the third. The second attempt it got mixed up that I needed to specify the wireless settings again. I had to do a full factory reset to start the third attempt. Mounting and wiring to my existing doorbell chime was a breeze.Awesome features:* when the onboard memory is full it deletes the oldest videos (storing about 100 2 minute videos)* power comes from the doorbell wiring so no battery!* doesn't require cloud connectivity* connected to my phone and my wife's phone, receiving notification of activity anywhere we have reception* we can both review videos using our smart phones* nighttime mode has excellent visibility* audio recording is really good for an inconspicuous and very small microphone* handles all the weather (1' of snow, heavy rains and wind)* angled option let's me permanently direct it toward where the traffic is* app is mostly intuitive and supports multiple Lorex devices* 98% of the time correctly records pedestrians, joggers and cyclists, rarely snags a motorcycle driving by; always captures anyone or a cat within 10' of the doorI seriously didn't want to have to pay a subscription to anything for a simple doorbell camera. With this device, I don't! However, if you don't have a computer or want to be able to store videos for longer than the device can store it then you can store them on the cloud, which this device supports. Cloud support requires a subscription.I highly recommend this doorbell camera.

I'd get 2 if I needed them but one was enough.
Got this instead of the more popular doorbells out there to work with a Fusion system, works flawlessly. Requires 16-24V at the doorbell location from the old wired style doorbell, so checked with a voltmeter that mine is about 19.5V which is adequate. Used the included mechanical doorbell wiring kit and set up with the iOS app. Added to the system for greater functionality and works with multiple users as well. Only drawback has been setting motion detection and motion zones, haven't been able to set them so it makes any difference without detecting every person in a busy urban environment, but probably perfect for more quiet or secluded areas.Setup took under an hour, WiFi works consistently, picture is sharp, and records in color at night unless pitch black outside.

WORST DOORBELL CAMERA & APP
Rating is less than zero stars. The app does NOT connect to the device. Wasted hours trying to connect. Called Tech line and jumped thru hoops. Was asked to get a voltage meter, remove the camera, turn power off from the breaker, reset camera (which doesn't work when not connected to the wires), forget my home WIFI, reconnect. I gave up when resetting the camera didn't work. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. This is going back!

Works great and NO SUBSCRIPTION
My wife has been wanting a video doorbell for some time. I finally broke down and went with the Lorex 2K version. I contemplated the 4k, but 2K seemed more than enough for the doorbell. Actually, I have it configured to run in 1080p.The setup was pretty painless and installed it with a Newhouse 24V chime / transformer. At first I thought it may not work with the chime, but a quick search showed I needed to enable it. Once I enabled it, the chime worked. So far, the push notification seem reliable. The camera is wide angle, probably moreso than needed and it picks up a lot. I am still working on dialing the sensitivity and area. The night vision is really good, better than expected.Issues:1. The video does have the fisheye effect. I would think with today's tech that would be a thing of the past. I surprisingly have learned to ignore ie.2. The app could use a little help - not the greatest and there are some annoying things like not always seeing the person in the event list. Navigating live and historical views a little clunky.Overall, the issues are not making me want to return it and I am considering getting Lorex cameras too. Hopefully the local storage uses a LIFO method when the SD card fills - have not had enough to hit that point. I would recommend this unless the fisheye video is a deal breaker for you.

Subscriptions NOT Necessary!
Since living in the townhome I've lived in over the past 6 years, I've had numerous doorbell ditches. Not a big deal. But the other night while watching a movie with my family, someone tried to donkey kick our door open. Shoes prints left on the door as evidence. No worries, we don't call 911, we believe in the 2A. I bought this camera that night, got it delivered Prime the next day. The install and setup was not hard if you watch the videos before you start.Pros:NO Subscriptions!!!!NO Batteries needed!!!Install and SetupPicture qualityNight qualityDetection settingsInstant push notificationsTwo way speakerCan access anywhereCons:I waited too long to get oneDetection settings must be adjusted, very sensitiveNeed to buy a larger micro SD card or you'll have to clear storage often.

Works very well, software could use some updating
System works very well, and no monthly fee like Ring. Only issue unit needs to be rebooted occasionally, and software needs to be stopped to reconnect. Running software on a laptop using BlueStack App player.

Good Video Quality, But the App is Frustrating
The Lorex 2K Wired WiFi Smart Video Doorbell Camera has great video quality and captures a clear picture, but the app experience is frustrating. A lot of times when I try to check the live feed, it fails to connect, which is really annoying when I need to see what’s happening at my door. The hardware itself works well, but the unreliable app makes it less useful than it should be. If Lorex could fix the connection issues, this would be a great doorbell camera!
