I'd much rather use arrowroot powder than corn starch to thicken my gravies. My home is full of vegetarians and vegans. Most cornstarch is manufactured using chemical processes and genetically modified corn, whereas arrowroot powder, particularly this brand, is produced via more natural methods. Non GMO, organic and kosher is right up my alley! This did a great job of thickening my gravies, using the same amount of arrowroot as I would corn starch. I take at least a few tablespoons of arrowroot and add water to it, mix it and add it to my gravy concoction which is usually in a pot being cooked. I wait until all the other ingredients are heating up and add the arrowroot & water mixture, stirring immediately. As it starts to boil, it starts to thicken. If it's still too thin, add more arrowroot and water mixture.I recommend this highly!

This Just Jaivik USDA Certified Organic Arrowroot Powder is adequate. It thickens as expected. It adds no weird flavor. It's nice and fine with no large clumps. Since it's an essentially flavorless powder, there's really not a whole lot else to say about it.If you're looking for arrowroot, this product seems as good as any other. However, at the current price of $8 for 8oz, this seems significantly more expensive than other comparable arrowroot products.

Tastes and works as expected. It cooks and bakes well, I first used it in biscuits. I thought it was a little strange that it comes in a separate packet inside the resealable outer packaging. The inner packet is not resealable. Good value, I'd recommend. 5/5 stars.
