No need for an entire flat top cooker
I use this multitasker on my indoor gas stove and outdoor gas grill vs buying a full flat top cooker. Got it on sale for a great price. Comes pre-seasoned but you can always add another coat of your own. As for durability, it’s Lodge!

Versatile, easy maintenance and user-friendly Griddle
### Review for Lodge Carbon Steel Griddle, 18-inch**Grill Use:**- **Setup & Performance**: Fits perfectly on a Weber kettle grill, heats evenly and quickly with hot coals.- **Ease of Use & Cleaning**: Handles are manageable even when hot; flipping food is easy with proper tools. Cleaning is straightforward, but may need re-seasoning.**Stove Use:**- **Setup & Performance**: Used over one burner; hot spots over the burner allow controlled cooking.**Pros:**- Fits perfectly on a Weber kettle grill, spanning end to end.- Heats evenly and quickly when used over hot coals.- Easy to use and flip food with appropriate tools.- Handles are useful for moving the griddle, even when hot.- Lighter than traditional cast iron griddles.- Versatile for use on both grill and stovetop.**Cons:**- Develops hot spots when used on a single stovetop burner.- May require occasional re-seasoning to maintain non-stick properties.**Usage Tips:**- Works well for cooking hot dogs, hamburgers, and kebabs.- Easy to clean by scraping off residue and wiping down.- Can be re-seasoned with high smoke point oil in the oven.- Temperature variation on stovetop can be used to control cooking.**Overall Impression:**The Lodge Carbon Steel Griddle, 18-inch, is versatile and user-friendly, excelling on the grill with even heat distribution. It performs well on the stovetop, though users should be aware of potential hot spots. Its lighter weight compared to traditional cast iron is a significant advantage, and easy maintenance adds to its appeal. The occasional need for re-seasoning is a minor drawback typical of cast iron cookware. Overall, it is a valuable addition for any cooking enthusiast.Note: I removed one star because mine came with a 2" scrape. inside the box it was just with a bunch of paper and not wrapped. I believe it was packed with that scrape because nothing in shipping or packaging would have caused this. to me, this is an oversight and doesn't impact the product at all as with use it will get scrapes and things, which have no impact on usability. if someone wants 5 stars, the product should arrive flawlessly and amazon should review before shipping, otherwise sell it in the warehouse with a discount.

Very bad for induction stovetop
I purchased this griddle to use with my new induction stovetop. It is truly terrible for this purpose. First of all, it turns out that steel does not distribute the heat evenly at all, so I ended up with two small hot spots right over the induction elements. Second of all, the nonstick surface wasn't very nonstick, even with a light coating of cooking oil. I tried cooking my favorite homemade buttermilk pancakes, which were a disaster -- the worse pancakes I have made in my life. They cooked unevenly and somehow managed to be both tough and gooey at the same time, plus they were difficult to get under and flip as they kept sticking. Thirdly, the griddle does not lay completely flat. I'm not certain if it was this way out of the box, but after exactly one use, there is a definite half inch bow in the pan. If I hold down one side, the other side has a half inch gap from the level surface it is on. This is a problem for induction, as the burner will turn off if it doesn't sense a pan in direct contact with the surface of the stove. Do not waste your money on this pan. I'm not sure it is any good even for other types of stove besides induction, since the hot spots, poor nonstick and bowed shape are problems for any type of cook top.

Heavy, even heating!
I bought this to replace the “toy” griddle that came with my fancy gas stove. (The original had no heat retention, and the nonstick coating wore off in like a week — thanks LG! BUT this thing is great — just as good as their skillets. ‘A couple notes: the handles get HOT, so you’ll want potholders or silicon grippies. Also, the factory pre-season is NOT good enough to prevent sticking. I seasoned it myself about 3 times, until it turned a nice, uniform glossy black in color, and now the pancakes just slide around on it — every bit as good as a “non-stick” pan.

Warped bottom before ever used
The bottom is slightly warped so I can use it on my grill but not on my stove because it wobbles and does not have enough contact for an induction stove
