Compact, Attractive, and functional.
I had been looking to get a portable gas fire pit to take with us on camping trips so I would not need to carry (illegal in some locations) wood or purchase it at an exorbitant rate at the campground. Assembly was less complicated than the instructions indicated as some parts were already assembled. It did not take long to assemble this and test it. I advise checking all connections for tightness. The hose attachment had a small leak which was fixed by tightening the connection. The flame is adjustable. On low, it puuts out a nice amount of heat and should be attractive to sit around on a warm summer evening. On high, it can put out a lot of heat at the cost of higher propane use. One does have the ability to ajust the level to one's own choosing. I had considered a Camco Little Red Campfire but purchased this instead because it is also relatively compact and because it is much less expensive. I just need to get a carrying bag for it to protect it while traveling.I think it will be durable if I take care not to leave it out in the weather when it is not being used.

Great little heater
This is small enough to fit into my campers storage when not in use (must fold in legs). This runs about 8 to 10 hours on one 20 lb propane tank (the ones you swap at home depot or wal-mart). It puts out enough heat to keep a small circle of people warm. Most evenings my wife and I will sit outside the camper and watch a movie, this heater will sit between us and keep both of us warm, sometimes too warm and we have to switch sides to let the one closest to the fire cool down and warm the other side up :-) It is sturdy enough that I believe under normal use and kept from the elements (ie: leaving it outside in the rain when not in use or letting water sit in the fire bowl), it will last for a long time. My wife loves the design and looks of it, we often get compliments on it from neighboring campers.

Good value, do not like the built-in ignitor
Nice heater for camping. Bought this for winter camping to keep a tent warm. I used up 20lb propane over two days with the first day only running it in the late afternoon into evening and the second day much of the day into evening where it went out just before bed. Since I was running on mostly low it did make a lot of soot which was noticeable on some surfaces but not bad and not unexpected. Setup is easy. The rocks were dusty so I did not use them. Will wash them and devise a canvas bag for them. I bought this mainly for the cover that latches on, this is nice for transporting. The only issue is the ignition function. The ignitor is really an pain to use for some weird reason. Gas will build up and go into a huge puff if you are not careful. I switches to using my own lighter. I may drill a hole and install a push button ignitor. Maybe I am using it wrong, but I think the issue is that it wants to be on full gas position for the ignitor to work. I would rather have it on low!For the price I can not complain though. It is a pretty decent value compared to others. I will use it at home on my patio in summer and certainly use it again next winter for camping.Things I would like: canvas bag for rock storage, longer propane hose by about two feet.

Better than anticipated!
We had been somewhat concerned about a few of the negative reviews outlining missing parts and difficulty with the igniter, but decided it was a safe enough gamble since the product page indicated free returns and prime shipping. Perhaps the manufacturer...or distributor or whatever may have changed, but our unit arrived in perfect condition; well packaged, no damage and no missing parts. The fold out legs work well. The igniter works well once you figure out the process. (The owners manual directions are a little sparse.) The procedure is to depress the control knob in order to start the gas flow to purge air from the hose and from the burner. While still holding in the knob, rotate it counter clockwise to activate the igniter. There should be an audible click or snap sound. Continuing to hold in the knob provides maximum gas flow for the burner to light and for the flame to stabilize. If you release the knob too soon, the flame will go out. (Obviously adequate safety precautions should be followed to avoid setting oneself or the surroundings aflame.)The Unit came with a generous supply of lava rocks. From other reviews we had anticipated the possibility of needing to add more, but we received enough to cover the interior to a depth of about 3 inches over the burner. The distributor of our unit is supposedly a company in Amelia Island, FL.Their contact info and hours of operation are printed on a card included with the owners manual. The unit has an attached hose and regulator. The hose is probably too short for a lot of users, but if it were much longer it would diminish the overall portability of the unit. For RV use, a simple solution is to remove the existing hose/regulator and to incorporate a much longer hose with a quick disconnect on each end to use the propane accessory connection that is found on many RV's. . (Be sure to use two wrenches so the firepit end of the connection is supported when you remove the hose.) We acquired a 28 foot hose that we plug into the RV. That length gives us great flexibility in placing the unit so several folks can sit around the fire without having to deal with the presence of a 20 lb propane tank. Other length hoses are available. The unit is attractively finished, and is a very convenient size. The resulting flame seems sufficient and is moderately adjustable. The lid has a convenient handle that facilitates carrying the unit when the snap-latches clamp the lid down. All of the necessary parts we acquired were readily available through Amazon. Great heat, super portable. No firewood needed anymore
My brother purchased this item, at first I laughed at him then he turned it on. Oh my God, the flame is good size and puts out a lot of heat and is fully adjustable to the size of flame and heat output that you want or need. Folds up nicely with its lockable cover so it it very portable. I had to get one for myself to use at home or take to my camper. (He still ribs me about buying one.)Great product, I also have another friend who saw it and had to buy one also. No more need to carry firewood and put out your fire, just turn off the gas and your done. Great for areas with burn bans.
