I upgraded the hard drives in my RAID NAS, one started to fail so I decided to go up from 3TB to 4TB which left me with a free 3TB drive. Looked at the different solutions and prices on Amazon and other sites and this one appears to offer great value and, according to the reviews on here, great performance. The installation of the hard drive in the caddy was easy and straight forward, the supplied USB cable and power supply are of reasonable quality. Once powered up there are small unobtrusive lights on the top of the caddy, a red one for power, a blue one for disk activity.I plugged in, switched on, re-formatted the drive in Disk Management, created the NTFS partition and mounted the drive in Windows. I now have a large 3TB (2.7TB formatted) drive to back up the more important documents, photo's and music from my NAS or desktop computer, and although I took no speed readings, over USB3 I thought it was pretty fast.Overall I'm very happy with this caddy, only time will let me know its reliability.

HDD installation is simple and the drive is held securely in place by four screws on the base. The lid removes and replaces with a simple push/pull movement. Once assembled, my re-purposed 2TB drive was recognised quickly by both Windows and Mint Linux.The housing looks cheap, not helped by perhaps the worst power switch I have seen in a long time and gaudy printing on the case. The included power adaptor is on the large side. Having said that, the drive is held securely, there is minimal vibration noise from the case, and performance is better than expected with a sustained 150MB per second on a Western Digital 2TB Green.Would I buy it again? I don't know. Performance is excellent, but that power switch really puts me off.

Hi,I brought this for use with my iMac computer, teamed with a 2TB SSD, on an external drive.I did not want to change to the latest Mac operating system [Catalina], in case I did not like it, so I kept my high sierra OS on an external drive; I had the 2TB SSD on another type of enclosure.The other enclosure kept disconnecting for some reason, so I sent for the Tccmebius enclosure, it was very easy to add the SSD; and I could see that inside there was plenty of room for the larger types of HD.It has now been in service for some time, and I am happy to say, the days of the SSD disconnecting are over.The enclosure has performed flawlessly with the iMac computer, it is larger on the desk than the previous on; but it doe's perform without any trouble right out of the box; and it can always except a larger HD if needed in the future.I found the quality of this item more than met my needs, I would buy another if needed without hesitation.I purchased it from Amazon, the review is as I found the product to be.George.

Stopped working after less than 6 months, returned for a refund

Purchased this external hdd case to make use of some 3.5" drives i have lying around..The case plastics aren't the best quality and a little Flimsy,also the feet are so thin theyre borderline useless so I would suggest adding bigger rubber feet to the base to allow for better ventilation, otherwise it does what is says on the tin and connected to my pc no issue with good read/writes speeds.
