Buy a set, get a Beech handled No. 8 for half price
These food weapons are full on robust lifetime cutlery. Not at all a flimsy stamping of uncertain longevity, beefy in thickness with attention to soft burr free edges. Considering the variance with the rotating lock ring it was a pleasant surprise to find all of my No. 8's from loose to tight rotation functioned as a sturdy handle, well done to the designers. As repeatedly stated in the brochure they only fit the conventional No. 8 NOT the effie(slimline) or Garden blade (illustrated in the pic) handles nor other size variations. The micro fiber wrap and elastic retainer material used, while top shelf are going to be a wear item but just as clothes have a lifespan c'est la vie. When the cloth eventually fails the inoxydable flat wear will continue just fine.At this time, buying the set with the included knife is a clever purchase as it offers a beech handled Opi at half price. The pair I purchased I'm going to utilize the colourama series as it appeals to my picnic sensibilities and the included beech pair will join the cutlery drawer for general purposes.

Needs a second knife
Opinel knives have been around forever, offering quality, light weight knives at a great price. This kit is an excellent augmentation of that tradition. Fork and spoon inserts fit well to provide quality eating utensils. To make this kit really shine I added a second Opinel number 8 to allow use of spoon and knife at once or to have a knife and fork to enjoy your steak.

Good set
Two things. The knife is razor sharp so be careful. You can’t use the fork and the knife at the same time. I bought a second knife to solve this problem.Love the set. Very sturdy

Instant classic you’ll hand down to your kids
Opinel quality is well known and this set is a great addition to any camping or bushcraft or picnic set. Compact storage yet full size utensils are high quality stainless steel. Comes with a No. 8 knife but if you already own one you can use a knife and fork at the same time. Definitely a great purchase for the price.

This is a wonderful little utility set..
I have one but when I always wanted it I had it in another kit. So I bought another one. these little guys are so useful and handy, the blade of the knife is SHARP so beware. The way it is made when you put it in a handbag or possible pouch you forget it is even there.

Great EDC!!!
This is a really great little kit to keep in your backpack, car, tackle box or anywhere else that you might need some cutlery to eat a quick bite. The knife is a #8 Opinel pocket knife with the blade lock ring, the spoon and fork easily insert into the end of the knife handle then lock in place with the locking ring. It comes with a cloth carrying “pouch” that also can be used as a napkin. The blades are stainless so maintaining them is easy. I love this thing, what a great idea Opinel!!!

Ideal all-around set
As an avid outdoorsman, I have (arguably) too many knives. They just kind of accumulate. I have knives for this and knives for that. This being said, my wife and I are always on the move, and most of our activities revolve around the outdoors. I was looking for a gift for her, and I stumbled upon this set. I subsequently bought myself a set as well (see again above, where I already own too many knives). It is so handy to have this little kit, and it is convenient enough to always have along. Easily stowable in the glovebox, tacklebox, lunchbox, picnic basket, backpack, or pocket. In far too many kits of this nature, the knife is a second-rate cheapo. Not so the case with this Opinel set. Initially skeptical of the build quality, I have been nothing but impressed with this knife. I read somewhere that the Opinel design has been rated as one of the top 100 most important or innovative designs of the last century. I don't know if I would go that far, but the locking slipjoint mechanism is certainly ingenious. The manner in whick the dining ware attaches is as functional as it is novel. While the kit is build around the knife, the spoon and fork are of equal quality, as is the carrying case/napkin.The size of this knife is ideal as well. I normally carry a Case Trapper, and this knife fits in my pocket just as well and as comfortably. The handle perfectly fills my average-sized hands. Blade shape and size is perfect for just about everything, and it has become my constant garden companion. With it I cut okra, prune tomato vines, and use it for anything else one would need a knife for. Although I have not yet done it, I'm sure it will be ideal for butchering game and cleaning fish.It is not often that I am so sincerely impressed with a product.
