Works well for $40
I had high hopes for this, but understand that this is a $40 night vision monocular. I do own a legit PVS14 and there's no comparison. I say that just in case there is someone thinking that this $40 unit is going to be the same as a legit Night Vision tube. It does work, There is some delay in the illuminator to catch up with the lens, or what ever it is that is giving you the picture. I'm not a big tech guy so I don't know how it all works, but this unit being digital will not work with IR lights or lasers, FYI. with that said it does work. And it is rechargeable which is a bonus.

battery
lizhoumil said i can use AA battery, but there are no metal contacts in the battery compartment for the batteries, plus what is the voltage on the rechargeable battery pack and where can i buy a extra one.

Just a toy
I had low expectations for this item going in, but I gave it a try anyway because I was curious. So let me start off by saying that this thing having "night vision" is a far stretch from reality. Can you see in the dark with it? No, not really. Instead, you are supposed to record whatever you're trying to view onto an SD card and then watch it later on a computer or a phone. Why is this the case? Well, because this "monocular" has a tiny TV screen where your eye is supposed to go, and literally nothing is visible from it because it is too small, and there is no way that you can put your eye to it to see anything. Also, it doesn't have an infrared projector bulb, it has a VISIBLE RED lamp that turns on when you want to see in the dark. If you are looking at an animal in the dark, it will be looking right back at you and at your bright red lamp that you so carelessly turned on so that you could see it. Also, seeing anything is a stretch too. You cannot easily use this indoors, as the view radius is abysmally narrow even when zoomed out to the maximum. I put up a standard sheet of paper as a sign at the end of a hallway some 20 feet away, and all I could see was the sign because it was too zoomed in at the lowest setting. If you zoom in though, you can even read what the sign said, so I guess that's a plus if you need to read something in the dark at a longer distance? This isn't a monocular night vision goggle. This is a cheap camera that records in the dark with limited success, at horribly zoomed in viewing radius, and with mediocre resolution. It seems that you really can't have your cake and eat it too when it comes to night vision yet, unfortunately. This is nothing more than a cheap gimmick device. Not suitable for someone hunting at night, nor trying to escape the wendigo, skinwalker, slenderman, or whatever else lurks in the dark.
