Fun with a few areas for improvement
This is a fun game, and our twin 5-year-old boys loved it. One bounced up and down with excitement and anticipation for the whole time - then didn't want to play again. Perhaps too stressful or he was afraid to lose (he hates losing). The other kids immediately wanted to play again. As a hobby gamer myself, I did notice a few things that could be improved.Components - The ball is cool, however you have to "warm it up" by rubbing it between your hands to make it work. If it's cold in your house, if you do it too long or not enough, it's going to make for a wildly different experience. Once we tried and the ball just immediately dropped as soon as we moved the Dodo. A few other times, it got stuck and we basically had as long as we wanted to find tiles. Too inconsistent for me.Finding Tiles - There are 58 tiles. 58. With 6 unique sides of the die. There's no real way to play memory here, it's basically just luck which ones you turn over, especially as you are encouraged to go as fast as you can. Finding "people" in the crowd is a wild card so that's basically what got us the win. Pure random chance. It's ok for kids but outside of "oh I think one of those was a rope in that area" it is too hard for the target audience to track that much information.Setup - It takes a while. Just be prepared for that. And the rules , for such a simple game, aren't super clear. For instance you have to infer about the skull spaces (it's mentioned in passing about you only use them in the dock for an expert game, yet they are on all the bridges too - wouldn't it be easier to say outright only use skull spaces in the expert game as a rule?) - and for assembling the boat, the instructions don't show you to put the bottom piece in (though it should be intuitive as you are building it, assuming you don't throw that piece away thinking it isn't needed). Lastly, my kids were curious after the game was over about "what's the cave for?" - in the back, there's a cool opening area and it looks like something exciting might go in there, but as far as I can tell it's just a design element. The sailboat (with the Moana rip-off illustration) doesn't even fit inside much to their chagrin. One kid gave it a 5, the other a 3. So I'm splitting the difference with a 4. Despite its flaws, I actually recommend it. Fun game for young kids. Just not as educational or strategic as something like Outfoxed, even the similar Oh No, Volcano! (which they love). So, good toy, could be a better game, all in all it's a keeper though,

Meh. It's an OK memory match game but with time pressure.
The cliff tower and the wiggling egg are cute, but the game is just meh. It is basically a memory match game. Plus time pressure. I think a good memory match game builds habits like thoughtfulness, thinking back on what you saw before, and taking time to choose, but since this game adds time pressure, it doesn't build any of those skills. Each round is pretty quick. Once they won once, my kids were ready to put it away.

Silly fun- with GRAVITY!
The egg is wacky- the way it rolls slowly is very interesting, and it helps keep a good pace to the game. My kids need more help thinking quickly- active decisively- and this is a great game to push them to think quickly and make decisions when the clock is ticking, so to speak. It's big and bright and colorful and just plain old fun. It's a memory game at its core, and for kids who can't seem to remember anything- I really appreciate pushing those skills into anything we can!
