Still thumbing through this book at my leisure and enjoying it a lot.If I had more spare time I would be reading it day and night.Lots of interesting stories and good foot notes referring things people may not know in the text.Good for expanding my interest in Japanese culture, fascinating stuff.

Well written and gIves insight into Japanese culture

While I have always been interested in myths and legends from around the world it wasn't until recently that I have looked into the mythology of Japan.As part of the `Forgotten Books Classic Reprint Series' this book is quite old having been originally published in 1913. As such there are some rather old-fashioned terminology and translations but it is still an interesting and informative read. The book covers a variety of myths and legends from japan and while many of the stories are covered in rather less detail than I would have liked, or are slightly different from the versions I have heard elsewhere, they are still interesting and entertaining to read.Despite its age, this book is quite good and should be interesting for anyone interested in Japanese mythology should enjoy this classic book of only for a different perspective and style from more modern books.
