Q: Is it suitable for 7 years old child? Will the holes be too big for the children’s fingers?

Best for a child to start on the soprano (descant) recorder in my opinion as it is easier to place their fingers over the holes. The alto (treble) recorder is a good second recorder to learn. Yes, it’s possible for a most seven year old to develop the finger/hand stretch needed to play the alto, though this is a challenge. So for the more dedicated young recorder player the alto is good to learn too but not for beginners. The alto recorder uses same fingering system as the sopranino recorder which is smaller than the soprano. So for a child with particularly small hands the sopranino is a good first or second recorder to learn. I learnt the soprano and alto at primary school but I would have lived a sopranino. They are sooo cute ☺️.

This is a Baroque fingering, make sure it is an alto baroque you want, but it will be okay for a 7 year old It is a good recorder
