A must if you have large ears. Bought for Audio-Technica ATH-M40X
If you have large (tall) ears these are the pads for you. I got them for my Audio-Technica ATH-M40X's as the stock pads, like almost all supposedly 'over ear' headphones, are too small to go completely over large ears without crushing them which hurts after a while - what are supposed to be over ear phones become on ear instead...I researched for larger pads and these have a much larger ear opening size of 70x50mm, reasonable price too.I opted for velour as it is softer and not as hot/sweaty as pleather over long periods. They are much larger and thicker than standard and the headphones now completely cover my ears.I had never changed ear pads before so found them a bit fiddly to install (not the fault of the pads) - took 5 minutes but they do stretch round ok and are a good fit for the M40X and feel secure.I can't hear any change in sound quality - some reviews say there is less bass with velour but it may be that if you have large ears then previously the standard pads would have given less bass than usual as they didn't seal properly around your ears.Perhaps the better/closer fit of these more than makes up for any supposed reduction in bass with velour. The same goes for isolation, I didn't notice any difference in the muffling of external noise with these - if anything they were better than the standard pleather. The only other pads I found that are bigger than these in ear size are the Sennheiser HD-380 Pro (and PXC350/450) which are 76x50mm but they are twice the price and I don't think they offer a velour version. For me these HM5 pads are ideal for comfort, would happily buy again for any other full size headphones.

Made my headphones a joy to wear.
I needed better earpads for my Superlux HD661 headphones. Although it's not stated as suitable for the HD661, similar size headphones are listed. I took a chance and ordered them. Well, they do fit and are vastly better than the supplied pads. They are also bigger than the originals so feel even better over your ears. My first listening session lasted a few hours without even noticing time passing. That never happened before because I was always aware of a pair of ill fitting, sweaty phones clamped to my head. There is no manual adjustment in the fit of this model of Superlux. A pair of rubberised wings are supposed to apply downward pressure on the head but do not really do much in reality. Now with the Brainwavz fitted the wings work and apply just enough pressure to hold the phones exactly where you place them over your ears. You can improve matter further by applying a mod mentioned by another reviewer. Roll a sheet of kitchen paper into a tube (roll around a pencil or something similar). Then push it into the gap between the foam pad and the integral black fabric that protects the driver. This will make the pads even deeper and more comfortable. The Brainwavz do seem to alter the sound for the better. HD661's are a little lite on bass but the Brainwavz seem at add a little weight to bass. These earpads are well worth the asking price.

Used with Sony MDR-V6 (velour vs. PU leather) (UPDATED to add DT990)
I initially bought the velour pads to use with my Sony MDR-V6 headphones and, whilst they were certainly more comfy than the stock ear pads, they completely changed the sound of the headphones for the worse. The bass became thin and constricted whilst the highs became strident. The sound stage was admittedly wider, but the trade-off wasn't worth it.I was however impressed with the build quality and added comfort, so I returned the velour pads and bought the standard PU leather ones instead. These are much better! The sound of the headphones has changed slightly, but this is just a different flavour and is most pleasing. Sound stage in particular is wider and more involving. The pads are very soft, comfy, and well made. The PU leather pads are double the price of the knock-off V6 replacement ones, but they feel really great and they do seem to improve the listening experience. Recommended!UPDATE: I have also used these pads with my Beyerdynamic DT990 headphones because I found the stock velour pads too firm and missed the squidgy comfort of the Brainwavz pads. With a bit of coercing these pads will fit the DT990 (and, thus, related models in the DT##0 family). I experienced an improvement, not only in comfort, but also through a widening of the sound-stage (due to the Brainwavz pads placing the drivers further away from my ears), and a frequency sweep exhibited an subjective flattening out of the DT990's frequency response. The bass reduced slightly with the drivers being further away from my ears, which is no bad thing for the typically bass-heavy DT990.

Fitted Turtle Beach Sevens Couldn't be happier
After wearing my Turtle Beach Sevens for nearly 2 years almost everyday for hours on end, eventually killed the leather cups on them. It all flaked off and it felt horrible. To my disappointment, i had no idea in them 2 years Turtle beach made my headset "legacy" and no longer produced anything to do with them. So i could not get ANY of the official cups for them anywhere. I was starting to lose hope so i looked for alternatives that would hopefully fit the same size. Then i stumbled across these "Brainwavz Replacement Memory Foam Earpads" and instantly saw the measurements sizing picture looked very similar to my Turtle Beach Sevens. The inner circle was bigger but the other dimensions fitted perfectly, i was hesitant at first but i placed my order a hoped it would fit all good.I bought the Velour ones because i was fed up with the sticky leather always sticking to me and when the arrived, well i be dammed were they not some the softest ear pads i've felt. I then proceeded to attempt to put them on, with took me a whole 20 mins because my god was it tight fit (insert joke here). But after all that and i a week later, i'm so incredibly pleased they fit wonderfully and also feel brilliant. It almost feels like a brand pair new of headphones all over again. I will buy some more Ear Pads from them in the future because i can't fault them at all.Brainwavs are the heros we need but do not deserve
