Great home treatment!
(Editor's note: This review posted by the wife.) My hair is extremely coarse and thick, naturally wavy, and tends to frizz. I also color at home and heat style. I have been getting salon keratin treatments for a couple of years now, but wanted to look into "hair botox" and other treatments. No salons near me offer anything like this, so I decided to try a home option. I will say that I have been coloring my hair at home for years and I am very comfortable doing salon treatments at home. This was affordable and seemed relatively easy. I ordered the 8 oz size tub, and I used probably 1/2 of that for one treatment (my hair is mid-neck length and quite thick). I washed my hair twice with Ouai Detox shampoo, rough dried it, then applied this product with gloved hands. For me it was easier to apply by hand, but I did use a brush for some areas. I covered with a plastic processing cap, and let it sit for 1 hour (again, my hair is very coarse and thick). I did apply some heat during processing with a dryer. After that, I rinsed under cool water for 1-2 minutes (totally guessing, this was hard to gauge), then blowdried with a round brush and followed up with flat iron set to 410. I did not do 15 passes per section, probably 8-10, maybe less in some areas. There were some very light fumes during flat ironing - enough to make my eyes lightly water, but nothing overpowering or noxious, and a small bathroom fan was more than I needed. Also, whoever previously referenced the "Hubba Bubba" smell in another review was spot on. The whole process probably took me close to 2 hours on my own. After, my hair was super smooth, glassy, and flat - just like after a salon keratin treatment. I did this process on Sunday afternoon and I waited until Tuesday morning to wash. My hair is still extremely smooth and glossy with zero frizz, and so far the results are identical to a salon keratin express treatment. I'm hopeful this will last as long as salon keratin express (which usually last me 6-10 weeks based on aftercare). I do use sulfate free shampoo and try to avoid sodium chloride in my products. So far I am very impressed with this product and will repurchase!

Saved me from chopping off 6" of my hair
I've had this treatment in the salon before and loved it, but I wanted to see if I could recreate the same effect at home for 1/6 of the price. It's definitely possible and definitely worth the effort! To prepare, I watched a few YouTube videos for tips.My hair is incredibly damaged, and I wanted to ensure I didn't cause more damage during the process. I applied it to small sections of dry hair and made sure to coat it thoroughly, as I've seen people have poor results when applied unevenly. After leaving it on for 40 minutes, I rinsed it and removed a little more of it than I should have, as it was tough to know how much to leave in. (Next time, I'll have a better idea). Then, I dried my hair with my Revlon One-Step and began to flat iron. This is the only point in the process I felt being in a salon would've been helpful to have another set of hands!Following how my stylist had done it, I flat ironed very small sections (much smaller than you'd do when straightening your hair normally). Because I didn't want to fry my ends any further, I focused on repeated straightening from the root to the middle of the hair sections (approx 6-8x passes) and only passed over the ends 2-3 times. You can feel when the heat has worked its magic, as the hair will suddenly become slippery. Do not iron anymore after feeling that! This photo is my 3rd day with no washing and no blow drying. It's a little messy (and still damaged), but it's so much more manageable. Before this, I was tempted to cut it all off, but now I can trim it regularly and treat it with this in between cuts.A few tips - DO NOT WASH OR WET FOR 3 DAYS - Afterwards, use ONLY Sufate-Free Shampoo, Conditioner AND Heat Protectant Spray - Sleep on a satin pillowcase or with a bonnet. When I follow those tips this lasts 10-12 weeks!
