I actually need 2 smaller belts. Would I be able to assemble 2 belts out of this one? It looks like it just hooks together, so you could do that.

It is easy to adjust the length of this belt, just twist the links and pull out the tab and relink as needed.

Are these belts susceptible to weather? Do they dry out in winter?

Since these belts are made out of polyurethane and polyester I don't think they should ever dry out. I would suspect that sunlight (specifically UV) would be about the only thing that should affect them other than just age and wear. I have had mine on my machine for many months now with extremely dry weather during the summer and winter and they look exactly the same as when I first bought them. I hope this helps!
