This is my go to hair dye and has been for years and years. Live XL has always been a great hair dye for me, I’ve used several shades however amethyst chrome is the best colour I’ve tried when it comes to purple hair colour. I usually buy these in home bargains as they are cheaper in there but sometimes they can be out of stock so when I saw these on here for the same price as home bargains I just had to grab a box. I am looking forward to redoing my hair. I find a box does my hair fine and mines rather long and below my shoulders. I dye my hair once a month with this brand which isn’t too bad for the price and the colour. I have stuck with this shade for around 4 years now and it’s by far my favourite colour. Highly recommend!! Best purple I’ve tried! 💜

Such a beautiful dark plum colour, which fades to a deep red/burgundy. The colour is most vibrant for about 2-3 weeks. It left my hair feeling really soft and was so easy to use!! I used the Amethyst Chrome on my hair which is a medium brown with highlights. Some of the brown is dyed over the highlights and I had this done 2 weeks ago by a hair dresser using salon dyes.I wanted to use Amethyst Chrome for purple highlights and I was very surprised with the results. Exactly what I wanted! I have had this done previously, but done by a senior stylist at a credible salon who used a different purple dye and it was horrible, so decided to try this kit and do it at home.Firstly, my husband applied the dye onto parts of my hair which we selected together and wrapped those sections in strips of kitchen foil.Secondly, we did not apply the dye onto the roots/scalp, only close to them as I was worried it would stain my skin purple. I did stain my hand purple by accident, but found the dye came off my skin after having a shower.Lastly, I left the dye in the foil for 60 minutes, not 30 minutes which the box states.Once the 60 minutes was up, I rinsed my hair in warm water in the shower until the water colour from my hair ran clear.Then I washed my hair in sulfate free shampoo, it’s important to do this as sulfate shampoos are known to strip colour (head and shoulders are the worst!). For me I use living proof curl shampoo.The conditioner included is excellent. Every week I soak my hair in Jamaican Mango & Lime Original Black Castor oil and leave in over night before washing. I found the conditioner that came with the dye kit gave me similar results, yet I had only left it in my hair for 30 minutes. If you use the Castor oil method, be warned the oil soaks into pillow cases so I use a case I’m not bothered about and it washes okay.The end result, vibrant colour that did not bleed into the highlights that I have in my hair. I will for sure be using this again.I think it’s important to add, there is no such thing as permanent purple dye (as hair dresser informed me). It will just stay in longer than semi permanent. It will eventually wash out without a trace, but to keep it in as long as possible, always use sulfate free shampoo and don’t wash you hair in hot water, try to keep it cool.Please note, phone struggled to capture the colour accurately, but it is much nicer in real life.Hope this review helps.

The colours great and love the conditioner but it doesn’t last very long, a few weeks and it’s already starting to fade. Is also one of the harder brands to get off your skin.

This is a gorgeous haircolour, i couldn't get it in my local shop so ordered it here, fairly priced

First time dying, so used on virgin undyed brown hair (see before and after images) and it turned out really well. Used the whole bottle and left on for just over 30 minutes.Super easy to apply and did not stain skin at all, nice floral smell, and comes with a good conditoner sachet. Colour is very vibrant in direct sunlight, and more midnight blue indoors.Would suggest leaving the conditoner in for at least 5 minutes and avoid washing (even with water) for the first 2-3 days to maintain as much colour as possible as some does wash out (hence 4 staes). My hair is super brittle and thin, so long conditioning was a must for me.
