I looked for quite awhile for a lunchbox for one of my children. I wanted stainless steel, preferably a USA based company and if possible made in the USA, and I didn’t under any circumstances want it made in China. I needed sustainability, I despise single use products and over the last 7 years we’ve made changes to help that. We are a family that cloth diapered our kids, use washable paper towels, use washable/reusable ziploc bags, really anything that can help reduce waste. I prefer small companies that have a purpose behind them and I absolutely needed it to fit a lot of food for a growing boy. Once I eliminated all of the made in China products there honestly weren’t many options left, trust me, even the well known brands for babies are China made (no thanks). I wanted a company that took pride in its product, remembered where they came from and wanted to give back to a community or had an interest in helping people in general. I did order two different lunchboxes, and sent the other back, the BKLYN BENTO was a lot heavier/thicker stainless steel, the quality of it just felt more durable, it fit together more snug, it didn’t have a seal I was going to have to worry about breaking, stretching out, loosing, having it mold, or just one more thing to wash and dry.BKLYN BENTO stood out because they did offer a warranty on their product which to me means they believe in their product because why would they offer a warranty if the quality wasn’t there. It wasn’t made in China, for obvious reasons. And buy meals for hungry kids, how amazing is that? On their website they also talk about how they got started and one very important person who they wish they could get in contact with. Marc also talks about how he loves his mom (I’m a boy mom so thought that was sweet), so call your mom Marc!We’ve had this product for 8 months now, the product is great, you should see the huge sandwiches my child makes (I added a picture of his normal sandwich) and we put in there, plus chips, cheese and dessert, plus whatever else he chooses to feast on that day. After 8 months so far it still looks brand new, it’s not scratched or dented. Two days ago we noticed something wrong, it just wasn’t closing like it had been so after looking at it closer I found what the issue was. After everyone went to bed (it was late) I went to the website and filled out the warranty form and attached the picture, it couldn’t have been more than 15 minutes and I had a response, not an automated response but an actual response from Marc. He apologized for the issue and said they would get a new piece sent out Friday. We had several back and forth emails and Marc was nothing except prompt, polite and incredibly professional. He emailed me on Friday with the tracking number and just wanted to keep me informed. I seriously couldn’t have chosen a better company and would choose them 1,000 times over simply for their customer service. If you’re just looking for a good quality product, this is it, just go ahead and buy it now! If you’re looking for more like I was, trust me, you won’t regret it and they are SO much more than a company just trying to sell something, there’s a reason they made this, think of all of those plastic baggies that this simple but amazing product has kept from going into the trash. The amount of waste prevented from just one person using this a few times a week is jaw dropping. So keep buying meals for those kids and helping people become more aware of how much waste they can so easily prevent. And I will forever be recommending you to anyone and everyone, all the way from Texas to Brooklyn, New York!

I love my Bklyn Bento box! It's every bit as sturdy and adorable as the pictures. Cleaning it has been a breeze -- just a quick dunk in the dishwater at the end of the day.When it arrived, it seemed smaller than I expected, but the size is deceptive. It holds a lot of food -- more than I really need for lunch on an average day -- so it's taking some practice to figure out how to pack it properly without bringing home leftovers at the end of the day. So far, I've been able to pack an apple (sliced into wedges), a handful of almonds, some dried dates and apricots, and a few chunks of cheese in the bottom tier; an amply-sized pasta salad and some lentils in the middle tier; and some crackers and a cookie in the top tier. For a second I thought my metal fork and spoon and a paper napkin might fit into the top tier, but the curve of the utensils makes them a smidge too tall for that. (That's okay; more room for cookies!)The only thing lacking is a tiny dish to separate messy things. (I don't like it when my hummus slides onto my chips because it makes them soggy.) Some similar products sported divided compartments, but their tight corners looked like they might be tricky to keep clean, so I chose Bklyn Bento's simpler design instead. I'm still totally satisfied with my purchase, and now I'm enjoying "accessorizing" my bento box with tiny containers.Nice job, Bklyn Bento!

These are great bento boxes. My boys bring them to school and all their classmates think they are so cool. They aren't huge but they work perfectly for my 4 and 6 year old. I love that they are dishwasher safe and not plastic. I was using yumbox previously and the silicone got moldy! These should last a long time.I had a problem with one of the latches being too loose so I contacted the company and they responded immediately. They even made a video and posted it to their Facebook page on how to fix the problem. Seeing that a company actually stands behind their product makes me love these boxes even more.These fit into a lunch box perfectly with plenty of room for a water bottle and ice pack. This is not leakproof and does not have individual compartments within each tray so I get creative with separating food. I don't often pack a sandwich (the bottom tray is the perfect size for this!) so I pack different foods into little silicone baking cups and I buy single serving yogurt tubes. I fill the middle tray with fruit and vegetables and the top container with crackers, pretzels, dried fruit or trail mix. The top tray is my least favorite, the size is very limiting. One time I put tortilla chips in there and when I put the cover on I heard them all crunching. Lol My son didn't care though.If you want to get plastic out of your children's lives, please consider giving this bento box a shot!

Aesthetically, I love this bento box, my 5 yr. old loves this bento box. (5 stars) I did a lot of research before the purchase. We received it last night (prime shipping). I just love it. Ok. for the review. It's awesome, the closure hinge are tight enough for adults and for my 5 yr old. The 3 compartments are well designed and tight enough to keep food in it's place. It's stainless steel, easy to clean. The bento box is for my 5yr old daily lunch and snack at school. We haven't used it yet and looking forward to it. I will update this review and attach pictures. For now I will give it, 4.5 stars. Here is why; we have bought other leak proof bento boxes but seriously those things are way to big and after a few uses and wear ability they start to leak. we need practically and durability. It's steep to buy a bento box for 25+ and then its just another food container taking space. I'm really rooting for BKLYN bento box to work for us. I like their purpose and charity work. I'm sure my son will have his opinion and review on his first week of school (.5 star), I think he gets it from his mom.
