Great pencils
I own a lot of these pencils. I love them. The colors are great, texture is good, easy to blend. Best of allthe sets compliment each other.

Nice set of metallics.
This set has an excellent range of metallic colors. They go down well and blend easily. They work as well on colored paper or card stock as they do on white.

Mixed feelings
I have a kind of mixed feelings about this pencil set. From the one hand I am a big fan of Castle Arts brand (because I think that the company offers the products of a good quality for the reasonable price), from another hand I am a little bit disappointed with this particular set. So, let me explain. What I do like about the Castle Arts Metallic Pencils:1. You can put the layers easily, these pencils are really the soft touch pencils2. They are rich in pigment3. They are lightweight but not too light to make you feel as you are holding chip and poor quality pencils4. The pencils are placed in a stylish tin box with the quite sturdy trays.5. They work really nice in combination with the pasteltint sets and neon colored pencils.6. The shades are really great for coloring mountains or cityscapes. What I do not like about Castle Arts Metallic Pencils:1. The biggest issue is the color range. As for me, it is too poor. Despite of there are a few beautiful shades like the Magnetic Mauve, Dragon Orange, Vegas Yellow, Olive Verde and Galaxy Blue, most of the colors are dull (frankly speaking) and quite similar. There are many similar brownish, grayish blue and grayish green shades, but there are no red, pink, bright green, bright yellow or bright green colors. So that makes it impossible to use this set independently.2. Not every color has a significant metallic gloss. Yellowish, light greenish, brownish and some bright purple and greenish blue shades have it, but dark blue, dark purple or black shades have nothing.3. These type of pencils works good with a smooth or a glossy paper (like the paper you can find in Kanoko Egusa’s, Rita Berman’s Diane Dufour’s or Mythographic books), but a toothy paper (like the one is in Tatiana Bogema’s or RJ Hampson’s books) makes the colors dull and boring, with no glossy tint.4. These metallic shades are not good to color animals or plants. On my opinion, these pencils are nice to use for a final touch up or enhancement of your artwork but not as a basic set. It’s up to you, but I think that they are not the best choice if you want to use them independently, but in combination with the other sets they are pretty good.UPD! I have been using my Castle Arts metallics for a while and now I think that they deserve 4 stars not 3 as I rated before, because I really like the way they perform in the combination with the Castle Arts Gold, especially when you need to color the sea creatures or the stones.

Mother-in-law loves them!
I bought these as a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law. She loves them. She said that they’re very good quality and likes using them for her coloring books. She absolutely loves the different shades of colors and the metallics give a beautiful effect and texture. They were priced well too.

Rich color with a hint of shine!
I added this set to my 72 piece set-love the deep colors not real sparkle just right!

It could be better, but it's not that bad...
Labels on tin are crooked. Color smears on pencils and packaging. The trays are flimsy, handles broken. There are a lot of colors, but they are not vibrant, I can barely tell they are metallic . Sheen is dull compared to cretacolor and derwent. Stays sharp, but feels scratchy when drawing.I think this a good set for beginners and just starting out. The quality matches the price, that is for sure.
