Downward Dog is where these really shine. Even if you didn't have much of a problem with that pose,it will feel so much better using these.

depends on your balance. i stand one footed on these and they are very stable.

Q: Do these get slippery in hot yoga?

I don't do hot yoga, but in regular yoga they never slipped.

Q: Could I use these to do calf raises? Looking for a minimal tool at home to help.

Yes. They are really solid and could be used for that. I bought them because I was having some wrist issues while doing yoga, which they did not solve. Maybe I’ll use them for calf raises instead.
