Is a 8 year to old for this set?

Not if they are into the Disney Princesses. The 6 year old I got it for has done a lot of lego sets and the “ book series” is not a challenge for her

Will this really not ship for 1-2 months, which is kind of ridiculous?

It depends on which seller you buy from the one that says that is probably still in transit to the warehouse. You can choose a different seller to see different shipping dates but prices will change.

What does it come with?

Many cute parts. Some are VERY, VERY tiny, like a tiny little mouse & a dolphin. Our 6 yr old granddaughter was thrilled with this gift. There's a case that they can put together to carry all of the parts. Worth the money.
