The Hoover Upright 300 Vacuum Cleaner which we have just purchased has (so far of course) been a first rate buy. It was placed third in its category by Good Housekeeping and it has certainly merited that high rating - especially as the top two were much more expensive. Admittedly we have carpet in only one room the rest is hard floor but it does fine on both and is easy to switch between the two. Very light, manoeuvrable, and easy to empty. Much better than the (more expensive one) it replaced. Would not hesitate to recommend in a crowded market

This was bought to replace our old Dyson - it was mainly price that led to this decision.Things I've noticed:1 Not great on solid floors. We have both wooden and terracotta tiled floors, and the Hoover works much better on carpets.2 It's much more manoeuvrable and lighter than our previous Dyson.3 Bit of a faff doing the stairs, having to attach the hose.4 Could use more attachments - I still use the old Dyson stair tool. The 'brush' Hoover is useless. It needs something much more solid.Overall, I think it's great for the price. It would be unfair to compare with another Dyson as this would have been more than double the price.It does a good enough job around our house. If you're working on a budget, it's pretty good.

The hose is very short and hard to use. Whilst trying to use the hose you have to stay right next to the vacuum or it tips over. There is a hose extension but it's actually the main handle of the hoover, so if u want to use it you have to detach the handle from the hoover body and re attatch it every time and mine isn't easy to detach / attatch. So this design makes things hard. As an upright it is very good, powerful and easy. But using the hose is not easy . I got in the sale that's why I kept it .

Great hoover, lightweight, easy to use and empty and has a really long cord. Is great value for money compared to the really expensive alternatives available. Would definitely recommend.

***UPDATE. So, 16 months on and almost daily use it’s still a good cleaner. Only criticism is the suction on hard floor, especially into corners and edges, could be stronger. Beats the carpets well though, and hasn’t fallen apart. Note that others say it’s heavy, but to be fair, nothing with a motor is ever going to be very light. **A good little vacuum cleaner. Not as robust as others I’ve had, but you get what you pay for. It’s never going to compare to other vacuum cleaners that are three or four times the price. Two criticisms. Had no idea where a loose thin rubber bar was meant to go. Secondly, the fluffy trim on the bottom of the head fell off after 5 uses. I found it sucked up in the dust container! In the end I threw it away. Other than that it works well so far.

I bought this item for my elderly Dad back in 2023, it’s so lightweight and easy to use. I needed something straight forward as Dad is 90 and has had no problems with it, it easy to manoeuvre under furniture for him, it’s easy to empty and clean the filter. Would highly recommend.
