Q: I don't understand the purpose of the extra short strap--- I'm thinking of just cutting off the extra piece. Can someone tell me its function?

The extra strap is central to the NATO design. Its purpose is to secure the watch in the event that one of the spring bars breaks. It also keeps the watch in the same location on the strap, and if the strap were a loose fit in the lugs, would prevent the watch from inadvertently slipping off the end of the strap. Try it - you might like it :)

Q: which watch bands would fit the casio baby g bg-158??

I would estimate the 16mm but go to the watches specs...to be sure call the mfg. These are good quality bands and the price is excellent.

Q: Do these bands fit the Timex Weekender?

They should, these are 20 mm straps just like the Weekender
