Has anyone tried this on their door right below the windownto prevent claw marks? Will it ruin my door with sticky stuff?

Yes! The adhesive is rather strong once removed. However a product called Goo-b-gone will dissolve the glue adhesive that remains and restore your vehicles original finish.

Does the plastic film on both sides get removed, or does the shiny side film remain? Thanks.

Great question @Don…the film on the underneath or bottom will need to be removed for proper adhesion to occur. Of course you could bypass removing the film on the bottom by simply unrolling the desired length and placing a large rock on either side to prevent it from rolling back up. As far as the top or shiny side, there is no film to be removed. Of course using a sharp razor blade, you could perhaps separate the layers to remove the shiny side. As stated I have not attempted the latter procedure and caution to work in a well lit area away from children and pets.

Does it adhere well to texturized car surfaces?

Not sure. It has worked well on the flat surface of the car door jamb
