Q: Can these really be easily cut with pliers I am having trouble cutting them without ruining the threading on the screw ?

Get a dremel with a blade for metal. You will still have to use a metal file to smooth off the rough edges. A giant bolt cutter worked but crushed the threads.

Q: Is the hardware always brass? I love these, but need chrome/silver hardware!

Mines are brass but the knob is so big that you cant really tell when they are placed in your cabinets. I really love these knobs:)

Q: Can the knob cap be turned allowing the knob to stick out further from the door or is it fixed/glued to the knob itself?

They're pretty much fixed with no options for adjustment. I used some washer like spacers on some of them to gain space from the door, slipped over the threaded stem before inserting through the door.

Q: Are these knobs lead free?

I am no expert on metals, but I don’t think these are lead. Maybe the manufacturer will answer your question.

I have seldom been so delighted with an online purchase

I am doing a bit of furniture painting. Out with the orange pine and in with the pastels and vibrant colours.The knobs are tricky and I sent for these to use instead of painting the existing ones.They are fabulous. heavy, good quality, in a range of pretty colours and patterns.I'll be ordering lots more.
