Q: Does this add color to gray hair?

Yes, it does. The color is more of a light auburn shade at first, but with frequent use, a deeper color is achieved. I have dark brown hair, and the colored grays blend in nicely. Looks like highlights.

Q: Is it recommended for dark black hair?

Natur Vital Hair Mask is a horrible product and did NOT color black at all! I tried it twice both times failed to color my hair black. I highly recommend Bigen 57 as an excellent alternative coloring product.

Q: So, does the color wash out when you stop using it, with your hair returning to it's natural color?

It is a mask, not a dye. It enhances your natural color.

Q: How often should it be applied to maintain color?

Apply every two or three washes.
