The best of 3 gator bags
See UPDATE after 2 years of use at the bottom of this review. We really like these. THese have been a life-saver for us as I have planted about 12 trees around my yard and didn't want to spend hours have to water them each week. Now we just have to fill the bags about 2 x per week and that's it! My husband is even willing to fill them for me which says a lot since he doesn't really like to do any yard work. It takes him about 30 minutes total to fill them all. Now, in comparing them to 2 other water gator bags, these are by far much better. Here are the other 2 water gator products that I've used.1. I have 2 GardenHome water gator bags that are similar to these. They were more expense and I can't tell any difference in quality. In terms of use they don't sit up as well and I find it requires more effort in filling them. It keeps shifting and/or leaning to one side, thus requiring having to continually lift the bag by the handles as you fill it. After now using these GardenHome bags for over 3 months, I'm noticing that both bags from this brand are not draining all the way. I'm not sure why, but most likely they are getting clogged. The Garden Armor bags are still functioning just as new.2. I have 2 of the round brown watering ring/ gator bags that lie on the ground. While these work well for areas that are flat, and have at least a 18"- 24" diameter around the base of the plant. There are only 2 holes for the water to drain, so you have to be careful to not clog nor block these. If the area is not level / flat, or if the area that you need water is less than 18", these don't work.Summary: Of the 3 different water gator bags that I've used, the Garden Armor is definitely the best. Even better, they are less expensive!UPDATE: After 2 years of use of the gator bags.1. The Garden Armor gator bags continue to hold up like new and I have not had any issues; neither clogs nor tears. I left them outside all year round, so I didn't take any special care during our winter months. I live in north Atlanta, so while our winters are not terrible, we still get the ice and the occasional light snow. When early spring comes, I just wash them off and use them again. I'm still very pleased with the Garden Armor gator bags.2. However, for other brand, GardenHome, I've now have a tear in one of the 2 bags that I had purchased.3. I stopped using the round brown watering ring/ gator bags as it just got to be too much trouble to ensure that the hole didn't clog and were positioned correctly on the base of the tree. I also got tired of rotating the bag's 2 holes to ensure coverage around the base of the tree before refilling each time. If there were 4 holes this would be much more useable.

Highly Recommended!
These bags work great, but there are some particulars about them. I use four of them on four 4' tall trees with truck diameters of about 0.5 inches. Since the trees are so small, the bag puts pressure on them as it fills. It took some trial and error, but now I've got them setup so that they do not load the tree. I had to tie the bag handles to the tree stakes in order to keep it straight even when filled. They hold water as long as they say they do and they are cheaper than the treegators. I do have two of the treegator versions and those are higher quality and work a little better (as far as not loading small trees), but I think the price is right on this product and those are too expensive. One of the four bags came with a puncture, but amazon was very efficient in getting me a new one.I recommend these. It's so much better than using a soaker hose or drip watering from a hose. I can fill all four of them in about 12-15 min.

Saved my tree!
My tree was looking sad this summer. This saved the tree by providing a great source of water. Well made and easy to install.

Empties too quickly
This empties too quickly. I have had similar products in the past that would hold water and very slowly release the water. This empties within an hour or two.

Stopped Dispensing then Ripped Open in 1-Week
This is made out of basic garden variety tarp material, essentially stitched into a conical shaped bag with a heavy plastic zipper. There's no fill cap, just an opening at the top to fill in water.I didn't see any noticeable rips or flaws in the item. Took only about 3-4 hours to empty from completely full. All things considered this should ok to plant a small tree and fill daily for a week or two until established. I wouldn't expect nor plan a lot of reuse beyond that. And for the price, that is ok.Edit: like others have stated, after about 5 days of daily use (meaning placed once and refilled 2x daily), the bag stopped draining. About 1/4 of the water still disappears somehow, but the remaining 3/4 remains. I will try removing it and poking some holes into the bottom but otherwise this really is not usable at this point.Edit #2: before I could poke additional drain holes, the bag ripped wide open top to bottom adjacent to the zipper after last complete fillup, so the item is now unusable. I would not recommend this product and revised my review to 1*.

Very helpful!
I bought this for a young apple tree. We have had below normal rainfall and high temperatures, and it was growing very slowly. I added the watering bag and it really seems to be helping! There is new growth where there has been none. It holds 5 gallons, but you can zip multiple bags together for trees with a larger girth. I hope to improve the quality and quantity of apples. Also, great price. It does your work for you!

Works as directed, great for new tree!!
We have a newly built house and got a tree for the front yard, this allowed us to fill the bag and walk away. This product holds 20 gallons and slowly drips to water your tree. It seemed like we would have to fill it everyday. It zips around the tree so it won’t blow away on windy days if it runs empty.
