Q: One end attaches to the harness your wearing but what does the other end connect to? There's no steel hook embedded in my roof?

I bought some hangers that you attach to your roof when I purchased this.

Q: Does the non clip end come already tied so that you can simply add a clip through a loop on the end?

If I understand your question, then you are referring to the rope and not the lanyard. Thus, the non-clip end is braided into a loop and it has molded clear plastic protecting it.
