Amazing Adapter Eliminator
This is the greatest! What an amazing device. I have fought with various adapters for years and they are always causing problems, especially when you add a new device. This box works perfectly and replaces all those irritating adapters. I have a weather station, 2 ham radios, and a communications device all plugged in and they can all be used at the same time. No issues with port numbers or anything like that. Plus, eliminating the serial/usb adapters freed up the usb ports on my PC that they were using. In addition, all the serial cables go to this box which can be located out of the way, reducing cable clutter at my PC. This is a terrific adapter hub and I highly recommend it to anyone who uses more than one serial/usb adapter.

If you own multiple I/O devices this does the job very nicely. One suggestion for StarTech - give us a ...
Needed extra I/O ports to run Ham radio gear, i.e., rig control and TNC's. Gave this a try. Arrived today. Since I am running Windows 10, the instructions were not exact. Had to use the device manager to select the supplied drivers. The key to install process for Win 10 is to reboot the computer after you load those drivers. Otherwise, the serial ports will continue to have the little yellow triangles next to them and be listed as "other devices." Now successfully running Ham Radio Deluxe rig control through the device with room for 3 more devices. The MFJ-1270 is next on the list, with left over slots for older HT programming and GPS throughput. If you own multiple I/O devices this does the job very nicely. One suggestion for StarTech - give us a bit more room between ports for those DB-9 connects. These old fingers don't work like they used to.

Cnc communication
I was able to hook up 2 Fanuc 0 series and a Mitsubishi 500m control to a pc with this unit. No hassle. I love that there are tx rx leds on it to see communications are active. When it comes to usb to serial I always look for ftdi chips and this units does not disappoint. Now my customer doesn’t have to swap between cables to send and receive programs to their machines.

Highly reliable and stable USB to Serial adapter.
As an amateur radio operator, this device is a must have for running ham radio software. I have purchased two of these. One for windows 7 and another for windows 10. Both were extremely easy to install on both computers. Window 7 Home premium machine is a Dell Inspiron 1750; the other is a Dell XPS tower running win 10 Pro. These devices use the ultra reliable FTDI chipset and will retain port assignments across reboots. I can confirm these devices will work and work well with "Ham Radio Deluxe" software.

works as should
I use two of these on two Astrophotography imaging set ups. I run two serial cables from a telescope mount to theStarTech.com 4 Port USB to Serial RS232 Adapter and then to USB to Cad 5 extender. Always loads on Windows !0 with no issues.Lynn

Plug and Play!
So far, so good.So far, I have three devices (industrial CNC machines) connected to this hub, and it still is only powered through the USB port. This really keeps cabling easier, as far as this hub is concerned.Coming from a single USB port, I am able to provide each port with full-handshaking. My CNC machines are running a variety of baud rates between 2400 and 9600. Two of the three machines are well over 20 years old, so the 2400 should be understandable. The new CNC machine (2010) is currently running 9600. I can probably push it faster, but this requires reconfiguration on the machine and I'll have to test it out at a later time. But as stated above, so far, so good.

Works Great but no Power Cord
Worked awesome for my field data collection. I really like the rugged housing. However it did not include the power adapter and it was a little difficult to find one. They don't even sell it in fact. My equipment has its on power, but the additional power was one of the reasons I when with this unit. Overall great, but they should at least sell the power cord.
