Worth the money
This thing gets my knives razor sharp. Easy to learn how to use. It’s a four step process to sharpen your knives initially, but worth the time. I’d say it takes about 10 mins to sharpen each knife but it’s a better than factory edge.

Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker is excellent but take some wee bit of effort to learn to use.
I bought this because so many I know have recommended it. It works very well in my opinion and is easy to use but there is a learning curve that a new user will have to overcome. You have to have good hand to eye coordination and common sense to get good results. Once I got past this learning curve I really love this knife sharpener. You have got to be able to consistently keep the knife vertical for it to work properly. If your knife has not been sharpened in a long time or it was sharpened improperly prior to using the Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker it going to take some extra back beveling with the course stone and or extra work with the 40 degree stone to bring the shape of the edge into its original specifications. Once you have re-established the original edge template the subsequent sharpening's become very easy and fast. Compared to the other sharpeners I have used Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker is the easiest to use to get the original knife template re-established. Another thing I found that is useful to make sharpening faster is to clean the stone with a wet rag to remove the metal filings that build up on the stones. I have sharpened a lot of scissors and knifes with regular and serrated edges and got very good results with the standard stones that come with it. The good thing is this sharpener does not wear the knife out by removing to much metal the way some of the electric sharpeners do the only down side it takes longer but give you a better result and you can sharpen your knife without needing an electric outlet. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this sharpener to people with good hand to eye coordination and some patience for the learning curve that some people might experience. So if you buy it and you think it does not work I can guarantee it's not the knife sharpeners fault so be a some patience because it has worked for every time for me. I give it five stars.

Great knife sharpening system
Buy this knife sharpening system! That being said, here’s why. Being a woodcarver for 30 plus years, I can put a fine edge on a blade with stones but, it’s slow. Using this system, it’s fast, easy, and fool proof to obtain a razor sharp edge with the supplied ceramic stones in the basic kit. The versatility of the Spyderco system is phenomenal. I’ve purchased rolling sharpeners, sharpeners that clamp your blade, electric belt sander sharpeners, you name it. None of those sharpeners have met all of the demands I need in a sharpening system. My carving knives have small blades, 1” to 2”, I can sharpen my carving knives with the Spyderco. The largest blade I’ve sharpened with this system is 12”, as seen in the photo. I have no doubt I could sharpen a hatchet. Scissors are a little more challenging but, I’ve restored some that were very dull. The only disappointment is that the construction is plastic. Considering the cost of the Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker, I would expect something more substantial. However, all of the rods and honing stones fit snugly with no movement which aids in producing the correct blade angles. The strength of the system is it’s ability to quickly produce razor sharp edges on an extremely wide variety of blade types. I highly recommend the Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker over any other sharpening system and do not believe you will be disappointed. I didn’t receive any form of compensation for this review, I’m just an old woodcarver looking for a good knife sharpener.

Great for sharpening
I do not feel confident or patient enough to work with sharpening stones, so the sharp maker seemed like a reasonable compromise. The positioning of the rods allows me to simply hold the knife straight and slide it straight down, letting the rod hold the angle for me. The rods enclosed with this package work great with knives that are not completely dull. If you have a knife that is very dull, it would take a lot of work to make it sharp again with this. It will certainly improve very dull knives, but will not make them really sharp without a ton of effort (other rods that help with this can be purchased separately). On the other hand, knives that are in good condition but just need a little rehabbing will work very well with this device.

Easy to use, effective
The main reason I got this was to sharpen my main kitchen knives. I didn't know much about sharpening, so I watched some YouTube videos and got a whetstone. I discovered that it would take me (I'm clumsy) some time to develop the knack for using the whetstone correctly. The biggest issue was the angle and consistency. This product completely solves those issues for me. I do not have to be, nor do I want to be a knife sharpening expert. I don't have that many good knives. But I want the ones I have to be nice and sharp. This product makes it easy to get the right angle. The tutorial video is clear, and it's obvious that this product can be used for much more than just kitchen knives.I was intrigued by the idea of sharpening scissors, and I tried it with only limited success, but I had cruddy scissors to begin with, and I think of scissors as disposable things I get in an office supply store. Usually the scissors break before they get dull.Aside from kitchen knives, I have also had good success with a swiss army knife and a leatherman.

Easy to use and great for maintaining an edge
This is perfect for someone who wants to maintain an edge on their knife. The medium grit stone that comes with the set isn't really aggressive enough to do a re-profiling job without an extreme amount of time, but if you are looking for something super easy to use that will maintain an existing bevel and edge in a short amount of time this is it. The fine stones do a great job of putting a finishing touch on the edge, but if you really want to step it up you need to also get the ultra fine stones to go with it. Great value for the money especially if you haven't mastered free hand sharpening.
