Q: What's the difference between the grey ones and the black ones?

Not sure since I don't have the black ones. I can say that the gray area is a very hard plastic rather than a firm rubber which I was expecting.

Q: are they to small for 6e shoe?

I have a very narrow size 10 1/2 shoe. As for length they fit my shoes with a little trimming. I can't speak for width E.

Q: I am a 6-6.5, is a XS best or a S in the women's?

I bought the S and I wear a size 7. These are designed for several sizes. You trim some of the edges off depending on the size you want. With an XS I trimmed off a little bit. You would trim off a bit more for a 6.5. It seams that the XS might work, although 6.5 would be the maximum range for that size so there would be no ability to modify. If I were purchasing this with your shoe size I'd get the S.
