Works great for honey jarring
The media could not be loaded. My husband installed the gate for me in a Home Depot bucket and it works great. I've used it for two extractions (30 lbs total) and both times didn't have any trouble filling jars or having it not stop the flow when the gate was closed. You might get a drop or two coming out right after the gate shuts, but it's just from the honey thickness and I just leave a jar under it to catch those and then top that up at the end. This was a really easy and economical way to get started with honey extracting and jarring - I am really happy with it.

Does Not Leak At All
I've been using these for several months now and they are perfect. The rubber gaskets are great and honey pours out smooth and can be controlled by how far you open the honey gate. Here's how to install one on your bucket. Drill a hole with a 1.625" hole saw (1 5/8") then sand the hole a tiny bit larger. Just enough so you can screw the honey gate into the hole. Be sure to drill the hole high enough so you can spin the nut on the inside without hitting the bottom of the bucket. Then tighten the nut with a large set of pliers. Using this method of installation, you won't have any leaking issues. Your bucket will probably dry out and crack looong before this bad boy will leak!

Great honey gates
I have a whole bunch of honey gates from different manufacturers that I've installed on 5 gallon buckets to store honey. I'm a great beekeeper but a terrible salesman so I often end up storing honey in 5 gallon buckets with an omega lid seal on the top and plastic honey gates on the bottom. These definitely fill that role and provide excellent sealing. When I finally get around to selling some honey and I need to bottle more all I have to do is crack the omega lid seal to keep from pulling vacuum and loosen honey gate nut.

They are very tough.they could use an o-ring for better sealing.it,s a good buy.

Not as good as a stainless steel honey gate
This honey gate installed fine on a 5 gallon bucket, with no leaking. One major problem is the screws rust. The honey must oxidize them, and they're not stainless steel. So the rust seeps into the honey if you're not cleaning the screws every single time. When you close the gate and tighten the screw, the gate slides up a little bit. Lastly, the gate just doesn't work as well for pouring honey as a stainless steel honey gate. It gets honey all over the gate and doesn't pour as nicely. It's definitely worth it to spend a few extra dollars and get a stainless steel one. The bee on the front is cute though.
