Everything is good about this pan, except the Japanese cookbook I can't understand
I reeally like the slick design and the quality built of this cooker. I cooked a whole pepper and salted chicken in it. I only had to boil chicken in water on the stove for 5-10 min and leave it in the pot over night. The next day, I have a tender chicken and a wonderful soup. The only disappointment was that the cookbook was in Japanese! I contacted Amazon and the Homono company that sold the product, none of them could help. Now I have this wonderful cookbook I can understand! I can't find other thermo cooking recipes easily. People told me to try Google image translate. But that's different from having a beautiful cookbook in hand. Too bad...

One of my best kitchen investments!
I have used this Shuttle Chef to make bone broth, boil whole chicken, stew pork and beef, make congee and vegetable soup, make herbal drinks which require to simmer herbal ingredients in a few hours, make fruit preserves. Literally this is just like a crockpot without the smell of the food all over my house. That are all the pros, here is one con: this Shuttle Chef claims to have a volume of 4.5 liters which is exactly like that. It means the food inside needs to be much lower than that volume. Maybe it was my mistake to assume that I could make food as much as 4.5 liters. Also there was a lot of condensation around the handles and the inside lid. I looked it up and it seems to be not a malfunction.Overall I am very happy with this Shuttle chef. No electricity needed, no smell.

DO NOT BUY! From Japan--impossible to get product support
I bought this end of last October, and after first use of making chicken soup, I noticed the inside of the inner pot developed white spots. And now, every time I open the inner lid, a wave of metallic smell would hit me--smell that I associate with rusty metal. I repeatedly washed and cleaned the inner pot without success. The metallic smell remains. I am wondering if I have been slowly poisoning myself using this pot.My mother has this same model and has used it for years and never experienced this issue, so maybe this pot is defective. HOWEVER, when I reached out to Thermos USA, they said that Shuttle Chef comes directly from Japan, so they could not do anything for me. I would have to contact Japan for warranty claim. Right... like I speak Japanese. I guess I could try and write to them. (Note, the representative of the USA division was very nice and did try to help, but they just don't have the product to send as a replacement).I am extremely disappointed. Under normal circumstances the cooker works great, but I am reluctant to replace it with another unit at my own cost. It is expensive! I think the lesson here is that we are purchasing at our own risk of products sold by overseas vendors.

Uneven glass lid.
Good looking. But the rim of the glass lid uneven. Luckily I can fix it by hand.
